WASHINGTON, DC: In a speech on Sunday, April 21, President Joe Biden announced the arrival of Passover, linking the Jewish festival to the Israel-Hamas conflict and reaffirming his support for Israel in it, as per The Hill.

Biden's statement read, "This holiday reminds us of a profound and powerful truth: that even in the face of persecution, if we hold on to faith, we shall endure and overcome. We can never forget the horror of Hamas’ despicable atrocities."

He added, "My commitment to the safety of the Jewish people, the security of Israel, and its right to exist as an independent Jewish state is ironclad."

Notably, Democrats' growing condemnation of Israel's military action in Gaza prompted Biden to recommit to seeking a temporary ceasefire arrangement to release Hamas captives.

Despite strong warnings from the Biden administration and others to prevent a ground clash in the city, negotiations to free the approximately 100 prisoners thought to be detained by the group have mostly failed. This is because the Israeli force is getting closer to invading Rafah.

Biden said, "My Administration is working around the clock to free the hostages, and we will not rest until we bring them home. We will continue to work toward a two-state solution that provides equal security, prosperity, and enduring peace for Israelis and Palestinians."

The stern message was sent one week after Iran retaliated against Israel for an earlier Israeli assault by firing hundreds of missiles in that direction. Though the strike sparked concerns of a larger regional conflict, almost all of the weapons were intercepted before they could reach their targets.

Moreover, along with denouncing antisemitism, Biden carried on his administration's campaign against hate speech, which experts have said has been on the rise in recent months.

He said, "The ancient story of persecution against Jews in the Haggadah also reminds us that we must speak out against the alarming surge of Antisemitism — in our schools, communities, and online. Silence is complicity."

Internet takes jibe at Joe Biden for his statement

Several social media users slammed President Biden as he announced the arrival of Passover, linking the Jewish festival to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

A user wrote on social media platform X, "Actions are more of a telling statement" while one added, "Biden is pulling for Hamas. So are the rest of the Democrats."

A person also wrote, "Ironclad support doesn't include telling Israel not to retaliate against Iran and their proxies. Biden trying to sit on the fence. He wants votes in Michigan. It's disgusting" whereas one remarked, "Resign."
