Biden soaks up sun on Delaware beach during extended time off, Internet says 'he's milking his last days'

REHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE: President Joe Biden was spotted basking in the sun at a Delaware beach during his vacation from the White House, which entered a second week.

The octogenarian spent around two hours with First Lady Jill Biden and two of her sisters at the North Shores near Rehoboth Beach in his home state on Wednesday, August 28.

Biden, in a white shirt, colorful swim trunks, and a black cap, sat on a beach chair reading through documents, according to a video by the New York Post.

The president left the White House about ten days ago despite claiming he would finish the remaining months of his Oval Office tenure strong pushing for his policies. Since his appearance at the opening night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on August 19, he has been away from the Oval Office.

Biden spends time outside Washington since Kamala Harris' anointment as Democratic nominee

Despite giving a fired-up speech at the DNC, Biden did not stay for the entirety of the four-day event to witness Vice President Kamala Harris give her nomination acceptance speech. Instead, he flew to Santa Ynez, California, for a vacation at Masimo CEO Joe Kiani's $37 million estate.

He ended his stay at the medical technology firm billionaire's luxurious ranch on August 25 and jetted off to Rehoboth Beach, where he is slated to remain until August 30 as per the White House schedule.

On Labor Day, September 2, the president is scheduled to campaign for Harris in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for their first joint appearance since she became the Democratic presidential nominee.

The vice president, since her entry to the race last month, put forward a tight competition against former President Donald Trump in swing states as well as fundraising.

After exiting the presidential race on July 21 due to his poor debate performance in June, Biden spent the majority of his time away from Washington. According to speculations, his distance from the capital resulted from annoyance with his Democratic allies who forced his withdrawal, including Rep Nancy Pelosi.

"A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic — you'd be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say [something] … and I thought it'd be a real distraction," Biden said to 'CBS News Sunday Morning,' two weeks ago.

The former House speaker questioned the 83-year-old continuing in the race during an interview on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe,' a reportedly favorite political chat show of the POTUS.

After his DNC speech, Biden confirmed that he had not spoken with Pelosi but added the decision to leave the race was solely his.

Netizens lashed Biden over his extended vacation sentence despite committing to finish the remainder of his term strong. Many suggested that the president was wasting taxpayers' money.
