CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: President Joe Biden didn’t hold back when CNN’s Kaitlan Collins pressed him on former president Donald Trump’s latest incendiary allegations of a “coup” within the Democratic Party.

As Biden and First Lady Jill Biden conducted a walkthrough before their scheduled speeches at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday, August 19, the president was approached by reporters eager to gauge his thoughts on a variety of issues.

Joe Biden confirms he is 'ready to pass the torch'

Several reporters called out, “President Biden, how are you feeling?” “Mr President, is this a bittersweet moment for you at all?” He responded with a simple yet poignant, “It’s a memorable moment.” Another questioned, “Mr President, are you ready to pass the torch, sir?” “I am,” Joe Biden said.

Faced with increasing pressure from more than 20 elected Democrats and former president Barack Obama, who reportedly urged Biden to "seriously consider" his candidacy, he ultimately chose to withdraw from the race on July 21 and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.

Harris recently chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the 2024 race.

Joe Biden fires back at Donald Trump’s ‘coup’ allegations

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, who seized the opportunity, directly addressed the president, saying, “Donald Trump claims that you were pushed out from the top of the ticket, and this amounts to a coup from your party. What do you make of those claims?” Joe Biden, unflustered, smiled and delivered a response that cut through the noise of political rhetoric. “His stability is still questionable,” he said.

Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to rant against Democrats on Monday for staging a “coup” against Biden.

“The Democrats staged the first ever ‘Coup’ in America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Crooked Joe Biden was told, ‘Sorry Joe, you’re losing to Trump, BIG, and you can’t beat him — You’re Fired.’”

Biden’s appearance at the DNC, brief as it may be, might be his final one at the convention. Unlike Lyndon B Johnson, who famously bowed out of attending the DNC after deciding not to seek re-election in 1968.

Netizens react to Joe Biden’s response on Donald Trump’s ‘stability’

The response from social media users to President Joe Biden’s sharp retort to Donald Trump’s "coup" allegations has been nothing short of varied:

"They really do ask the most unserious questions, but the answer was on point," tweeted a user.

"A lot of things about Donald are still in question, but his stability has been established to be non-existent," said another.

"Dark Brandon torches Don the con," mocked one user.

"DJT's stability is indeed still in question," added someone else.

"Wasn’t Biden pushed out because his lack of stability was put on full display for 90 minutes during the debate?" read a tweet.

"Maybe the reporter should’ve asked why Pelosi, Schumer and Obama said what they said, instead of framing it as a “Donald Trump claims” question," penned a user.

"Here’s a video of Biden himself saying he’s being forced out but he won’t let them!" chimed a user.

"I'm a stable genius though, that's what everyone has told me" - Trump," said a user.
