Bill Gates’ ex-wife ends interview after discussing Epstein and ‘nightmares’
LONDON, ENGLAND: In the backdrop of the Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates testifying over his past ties with Jeffrey Epstein, his ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, offered a rare and deeply personal account of her encounter with Jeffrey Epstein, revealing that meeting the convicted, disgraced financier left her with nightmares and a lasting sense of unease.
In an interview with the Guardian published Saturday, Melinda French Gates, a philanthropist who divorced Gates in 2021, opened up about her “visceral reaction” to the late convicted Epstein.
Melinda Gates says Epstein raised red flags
Melinda, who divorced Bill Gates in 2021, opened up about how she felt when she met the late convicted, disgraced financier.
Melinda revealed that she felt uneasy and could sense that something was wrong.
As she removed the curtain from the impact of the only meeting with Epstein on her and revealed that she was left with nightmares, Melinda decided to end the interview, citing that the “topic” was “hard” for her to discuss.
“Have you ever in your life been around somebody that you just know is evil?” French Gates reflected to the Guardian about her initial impressions of Epstein. She told the interviewer at the time that her heart was “racing.”
“We need to listen to our feelings about people,” she added to the Guardian. “I’m done. I can’t do any more questions.”
Melinda told the interviewer she was having a “visceral reaction” to the questions she was being asked, and conceded that talking about Epstein was hard for her.
Melinda Gates presses DOJ on Epstein files
Gates, who recalled Epstein as an “abhorrent human being, a horrid man,” urged for transparency from the Department of Justice and emphasized that “the justice system didn’t do its job. It did not do its job. Full stop.”
“If we don’t want children to be harmed, the justice system has to work.”
Before Bill Gates testified to the House Oversight Committee over his past ties with Epstein, French Gates had suggested that any questions related to Epstein were for her ex-husband and others to answer.
Just days before Melinda French Gates’s published interview, her ex-husband was on Capitol Hill testifying for hours behind closed doors to the House Oversight Committee after the release of Epstein files earlier this year.
Epstein leveraged Gates’ marriage
Gates told lawmakers that he was introduced to Epstein in 2011 after being told the financier could help raise billions of dollars for global health initiatives
He said he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal conduct at the time and later alleged that Epstein attempted to use details from his personal life, including his infidelity during his marriage, to pressure him into re-establishing contact after their relationship had ended.
