WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump has long been hailed by his loyalists as a one-of-a-kind leader, but one Congressman took the admiration to a new level, declaring that the president was "born a very special baby."
Texas Rep Troy Nehls, who in April said Trump was “almost the second coming,” was defending Trump’s proposed $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization fund” when he found another way to sing his praises
Nehls says Trump 'is the best thing to happen to this country'
Outside the Capitol, the retired Army Reserve major and former law enforcement officer was asked by Dropsite News reporter Julian Andreone about reports that Trump administration officials had convened in the Situation Room to discuss the Epstein scandal.
“Maybe we need to establish a fund for those who have ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ and get counselling,” Nehls replied.
“Maybe we outta provide some counseling for all the nutjobs out there that think Donald Trump is the worst thing ever,” he continued. “Donald Trump is the best thing to happen to this country in a hundred years,” the 58-year-old Congressman remarked.
“He was born a very special baby. I bet you the doctors said, ‘I can tell this is a very special baby,’” his praises continued.
Trump was born on June 14, 1946, at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY, to Fred Trump and Mary Anne McLeod Trump.
Nehls' remarks came as Trump gears up for a UFC-style birthday extravaganza to mark his 80th birthday, a milestone that will make him the oldest sitting president in U.S. history.

Nehls has emerged as one of Trump's staunchest allies on Capitol Hill since winning the election in 2020. In November 2025, he announced he would not seek another term and threw his support behind his twin brother as his successor in the Houston-area district.
A week into his first term, Nehls was among the Republicans in Congress who voted to object to the certification of Joe Biden’s victories in Arizona and Pennsylvania in an unsuccessful bid to keep Trump in power.
Following Trump's victory in the 2024 election, Nehls argued that Republican lawmakers should fully align themselves with the president's agenda.
“So now he’s got a mission statement of his mission and his goals and objectives,” Nehls said in November 2024.
“Whatever that is, we need to embrace it. All of it. Every single word. If Donald Trump says jump three feet high and scratch your head, we all jump three feet high and scratch our heads. And that’s it.”
That same month, he told reporters, “If Donald Trump says tariffs work, tariffs work. Because Donald Trump is really never wrong. Think about it. He is never wrong.”
Earlier this year, after Trump publicly criticized Pope Leo XIV over the first American pontiff's stance on the war in Iran, Nehls doubled down on his support, declaring the president was "better than sliced bread" and even drawing comparisons to Jesus Christ.
