Billie Eilish mom praises Justin Bieber Coachella moment: 'One of the most touching moments'
INDIO, CALIFORNIA: Singer Justin Bieber created a defining moment on Saturday, April 18, at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival Weekend 2 when he invited Singer Billie Eilish on stage and serenaded her in a gesture that fulfilled a long-held childhood dream.
The moment carried added emotional weight for her mother, Maggie Baird, who later shared an emotional reflection on Instagram while watching her daughter from the crowd. Bieber’s guest-filled, nostalgia-driven headlining set featured multiple eras of his career woven into a single performance that connected past milestones with present-day significance.
Maggie Baird reflects on emotional Coachella moment with Billie Eilish
“One of the most touching moments ever,” Baird wrote in the caption of an Instagram carousel featuring photos and videos from the evening, capturing her emotional response to the night. She further said, "It sounds crazy, but we watch our children develop these deep deep connections to artists who move them and usually there’s nothing in our power to do."
Baird then added, "But we buy them records and maybe buy them a ticket to a concert (or a movie of a concert in our case because we couldn’t afford to see an actual concert). Watching this crazy unimaginable dream come true over many years is so incredible."
She concluded by expressing gratitude for the kindness of Bieber, “I’m so grateful to Justin Bieber for the kindness he has shown Billie and to our whole family and to Hailey Bieber who makes so many things wonderful and possible.”
Baird shared footage showing a visibly emotional Eilish in disbelief as she stood beside her mother while preparing to take part in Bieber’s song 'One Less Lonely Girl' segment, a long-standing tradition in which a fan is brought on stage during his performance of the 2009 hit.
Hailey Bieber reacted warmly to a post shared by Baird, leaving two separate comments that reflected her affection and appreciation for the moment. She first wrote “love you guys!” before adding, “so special." Eilish also shared her emotional reaction on Instagram Stories.
Posting a bleary-eyed selfie taken while lying down and showing only the upper half of her face, she wrote, “Can’t stop crying.”
Hailey and Justin Bieber share personal and musical Coachella moments
Hailey shared a series of Instagram posts capturing her Coachella Weekend 2 experience, including a temporary tattoo placed on her lower left abdomen that read, “I Heart JB.” She also posted a second image captioned “aftermath,” which showed her brown halter top with white piping, a Coachella wristband, and her wedding ring.
In a recent conversation on Therapuss with host Jake Shane, Hailey reflected on her earlier Coachella years, saying that her partying then was “why I didn’t feel like it was crazy to settle down at 21, because I was like, I just did that for the last four years. I’m OK to like, you know, to move on to this new chapter in my life."
She continued, “And I always knew I was going to get married young, It was always something that I wanted. But I think now when I have really fun nights or like a fun weekend at Coachella or whatever it is, it’s because they happen so much less than they used to that I really savor it and I soak up and I’m a lot more present because I don’t know when it’ll be like that again,”
Hailey then concluded, “And I like that they’re [my big nights out] more few and far between now.” At Coachella, Bieber opened his set with tracks from his recent 'Swag' era before moving into a nostalgic segment from his early career.
The emotional peak came as Bieber shifted focus to his family, performing his song 'GO BABY,' widely interpreted as a tribute to Hailey. His rendition of 'YUKON' also gained significant attention, quickly driving a spike in streaming numbers.
Throughout the set, he brought out additional guests, including Rapper Sexyy Red and Big Sean, moving between new material and early hits before closing with songs from his recent releases.
