NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Ryan Reynolds has said he has “never been more proud” of his wife, Blake Lively. He made the rare comment while she continues to deal with a legal issue linked to her film 'It Ends With Us' and its director and co-star, Justin Baldoni.

Reynolds also hinted that people may not know the full story of what is really going on behind the scenes. The situation between Lively and Baldoni has been ongoing for some time. It has seen multiple updates and legal developments since the movie was released in 2024 and has remained in the public eye.

Even with all of this happening, Lively and Reynolds have been seen together in public. They were recently spotted showing affection at a Wrexham match and also attended a Broadway show in March. The couple also continues to share supportive messages about each other online.

Ryan Reynolds praises Blake Lively as high-profile legal battle continues

Ryan Reynolds is standing firmly by Blake Lively as she continues to deal with an ongoing legal battle tied to Justin Baldoni. In a candid moment during 'Today’s Sunday Sitdown Live,' aired on Sunday, April 19, the Deadpool star, 49, gave a rare glimpse into how the situation has affected his family life.

Reynolds and Lively, 38, share four children: James, Inez, Betty, and Olin.

When host Willie Geist asked how the family has been coping since the legal drama began making headlines in December 2024, Reynolds kept it real, saying, “You really see the illusion behind so much of this stuff, digital life versus real life.”

But the biggest headline moment came when he turned his focus to his wife.

“Really, without getting into too much, I have never in my life been more proud of my wife,” Reynolds said. “People have no idea what is really going on. I’ve never been more proud of someone in my life, with that level of integrity that they bring with them in everything they do," he added.

The legal clash between Lively and Baldoni has been unfolding for months, with new details and developments keeping Hollywood watchers engaged since the film’s release.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal dispute

The legal dispute between Blake Lively and her co-star and director Justin Baldoni began after their movie was released.

Lively accused him of harassment and claimed there was a coordinated effort to damage her reputation following the film’s release. She is seeking over 160 million dollars in damages. Baldoni has denied all allegations.

Baldoni later filed a 400 million dollar countersuit against Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of defamation, but it was dismissed in June 2025. Most recently, a New York judge threw out 10 of the 13 claims against Baldoni and his team, including the harassment claims.

However, Lively still has remaining accusations, including retaliation and breach of contract, which are set to go to trial on May 18, as per People.
