WASHINGTON, DC: Border Czar Tom Homan appeared on the latest segment of NBC News’s ‘Meet the Press’ on Sunday, January 11. During his conversation with Kristen Welker, he discussed the recent Minneapolis shooting for the most part.

However, towards the end, Welker pressed on a matter that was put to rest in 2025, angering Homan, who maintained his innocence in the matter of an alleged $50,000 payoff. He told Welker that he did not want to give the story any more air than it had already gotten.

Tom Homan dodges questions about accepting a bribe in the past

Before Kristen Welker let Tom Homan go, she had one last question for him. However, a question that offended the Border Craz and in his words, questioned his integrity.

Welker recalled that during an undercover operation in 2024, the FBI had recorded him accepting a bag containing $50,000 from agents who pretended to be business executives, hoping to get Homan’s help to win government contracts.

Although Welker revealed that the Justice Department found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, she wanted to give Homan a chance to address the scandal. When she asked if he kept or returned the money, Homan said he didn’t take money from anyone.

“And that’s a question for the FBI,” he added.

The Border Craz added that he didn’t do anything illegal and that the FBI and the DOJ reviewed the matter and had put the topic to rest. However, when Welker pressed on the matter, Homan said:

“I am not giving this story any more air. This is an attack on my integrity and my professionalism.”

Tom Homan fumes as Welker asks him about FBI investigation

Despite Tom Homan repeatedly claiming that he had done nothing wrong, the NBC News correspondent continued to press the matter. She asked whether he had returned the money, and Tom Homan called the accusation “ridiculous.”

He added that he was irritated that the story continued to be talked about despite his being found with nothing inappropriate.

“So I will not answer any more of these questions,” Homan told Welker.

Welker then asked the Border Craz whether he would be comfortable with the FBI releasing recordings of the investigation, and Homan left it for the FBI to decide. When asked about his personal feelings on the matter, Tom Homan added that he was not going to get ahead of the FBI.

“I am not going to get ahead of the FBI. That’s their decision,” he added.

Homan weighs in on Kristi Noem’s characterization of the Minneapolis shooting victim

During his conversation with Kristen Welker, the host asked Homan whether he agreed with Kristi Noem calling Renee Nicole Good a “domestic te***rist” in light of the recent Minneapolis shooting.

Homan said that if one were to look up the definition of the phrase, Good would “fall within that definition.” However, he added that he didn’t know what Noem knew to term the victim of the shooting a terrorist. He believed what Good and her wife did was “illegal.”
