LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brendan Fraser is gearing up to return to one of Hollywood’s most beloved action franchises, but before cameras roll on ‘The Mummy 4,’ the actor has one request for fans: “Please wish me luck.”
While appearing on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', Fraser joked about preparing his body to step back into the role of adventurer Rick O’Connell more than two decades after the original films became global hits.
Now, over 20 years later, Fraser is preparing to saddle up once again for the fourth instalment. He is also expected to reunite with Rachel Weisz, who played Evelyn in the first two films and became a fan-favorite alongside Fraser’s O’Connell.
Brendan Fraser wants fans’ luck as he gears up for 'Mummy 4'
Fraser appeared on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ to talk about ‘The Mummy 4,’ keeping details light but still teasing the project, saying he is “doing his best” to get his 57-year-old body back in shape. He also asked fans to “wish” him luck as he prepares to return as Rick O’Connell, the action role he played in 'The Mummy'.
“We’re gonna get the band back together,” Fraser told Jimmy Fallon. “The only way to do it. So, we are going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for, for the last twenty-whatever years.”
The actor also reflected on finally returning to the franchise after years of uncertainty. “I was hopeful for a long while, and then I was like, ‘I don’t know if they are.’ Then other ‘Mummy’ movies got made,” Fraser shared. “But listen, what we’re gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations, I should probably stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away.”
Released in 1999, 'The Mummy' starring Fraser and Rachel Weisz became a major global box-office hit, earning more than $400 million worldwide and turning the cast into fan favorites.
