WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Brian Kilmeade has suggested that Melania Trump may have issued her recent public statement criticizing late-night host Jimmy Kimmel without consulting her husband, President Donald Trump.

The remarks come amid an ongoing dispute involving the Trump family and Kimmel, following a controversial joke made during a comedy segment tied to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD).

During a discussion on Fox News, Kilmeade reacted to Melania Trump’s statement condemning Kimmel’s remarks, which she described as inappropriate and harmful.

He suggested that the statement may not have been coordinated with Donald Trump.

Speaking on Tuesday’s edition of ‘The Five,’ Kilmeade said he believed that Melania’s statement was made without prior discussion with Trump, claiming it was the reason Kimmel’s remark received such widespread attention.

“The one thing, the reason why I think this got to be big news is because Melania Trump doesn’t complain about anything,” he said.

“So when someone who never loses it posts online, I don’t think she checked with the president, personally, and just posts online, ‘This is ridiculous, got to be fired, ABC has been covering for him, I cannot believe he had that joke,’ and people came back and said, ‘Well, why didn’t you say something Thursday?’ Because she doesn’t watch him. There’s not a person who likes Donald Trump who would ever watch Jimmy Kimmel in a million years.”

Melania had publicly urged that steps be taken in response to Kimmel’s remarks, which referred to her in a way that drew backlash. The statement added to criticism from Donald Trump and his allies, who also called for consequences.

Kilmeade later expanded on his point, claiming, “Melania acted like a human being who felt like she could have been killed and her husband could have been killed, so that’s what got everyone’s attention.”

The controversy stems from a segment on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ where Kimmel made a joke describing Melania Trump as having “the glow of an expectant widow.”

The remark was made as part of a comedic routine related to the WHCD.

“Our first lady Melania is here,” he said. “Look at her, so beautiful. Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.”

The comment drew criticism from both Melania and Donald Trump, who said it crossed a line.

“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” she said.

The issue gained further attention after a shooting incident at the WHCD venue, which heightened sensitivity around the tone of public commentary.

Kimmel later defended his joke, stating that it was intended as humor and not a reference to violence.
