WASHINGTON, DC: In a scathing attack on the Donald Trump administration on Thursday, April 23, the co-hosts of ABC’s ‘The View’ declared Robert F Kennedy Jr unfit for the role of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary.

They questioned Kennedy’s efficiency after the contentious Senate hearings.

‘The View’ expresses concern over Kennedy’s role

The co-hosts voiced their concerns about Kennedy's ability to take charge of health after he engaged in clashes with lawmakers during this week's back-to-back appearances before the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).

The hearing came after reports claiming that the White House has “tightened its grip” on the HHS. Reports also claimed Kennedy has been ordered to calm down the public over shifts in national vaccine policy.

Kennedy’s testimony about his vision for artificial intelligence particularly invited backlash. Kennedy said AI can revolutionize medicine to such an extent that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would become “irrelevant.”

“I was just reading about a dog that had cancer, and his owner used AI to develop a personalized treatment that cured the cancer,” Kennedy told the Senate panel on Thursday.

Alyssa Farah Griffin blasts Kennedy

The co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin said that she could do anything to save her pet, but she also raised concerns over the Kennedy’s anecdotes to guide federal policy. Griffin also questioned Kennedy’s credibility to guide health policy.

This is our expert—somebody who does not have a medical degree, who does not have a background in science,” Griffin said.

Pointing to the administration’s recent decision to pivot away from certain mRNA research, Griffin claimed the HHS has moved to cancel $500 million in funding for mRNA vaccine research. She further said that mRNA is a technology that has provided “massive breakthroughs” in treating pancreatic cancer.

“That has real-life consequences,” she warned.

Joy Behar questions admin’s motive behind policies

Co-host Joy Behar took the conversation in a different direction, where she questioned the administration’s motive behind health policies.

Taking on the Trump administration, Joy Behar said that the health policies feel like “they are trying to kill” them.

You know, sometimes I feel like they’re trying to kill us,” Behar said.

“You think?” Whoopi Goldberg retorted.

Referring to Kennedy’s past, Behar claimed that he was not capable of being in charge of the health service.

“Here you’ve got a guy who is in charge of our health, who is a former heroin addict… he swam in sewage! Who does that?” she shouted.

“And [he] snorted cocaine off a toilet seat. This is who is in charge of your health, America. We’re in a lot of trouble.”
