WASHINGTON, DC: The hosts of the popular ABC talk show ‘The View’ have revealed why they are boycotting President Donald Trump’s White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Trump is set to make his first appearance at the Correspondents' Dinner as president. He is also expected to deliver a speech at the dinner scheduled for Saturday, April 25.

Ana Navarro says Trump speaking at the dinner is 'like having a cannibal host a vegan event'

While Alyssa Farah Griffin believes journalists should attend the Correspondents' Dinner to see colleagues like CNN’s Kaitlan Collins honored, Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin are officially boycotting the dinner.

The duo said that they would not attend if Trump were also in attendance, with Navarro saying that having Trump speak at the White House Correspondents' Dinner "where the free press is honored is like having a cannibal host a vegan event."

“We get invited every year and I am glad there are people going because, as Alyssa said, this raises money for worthwhile causes,” Navarro shared.

She then launched a blistering attack on Trump: “For me, there is no way in hell I would normalize Donald Trump’s presence by showing up. For me, as a Latina immigrant, no community has been as maligned, humiliated, prosecuted, and tortured as much as the immigrant community and the Latino community.”

Navarro further said that she doesn’t wish to drink cheap wine and eat bad chicken at dinner.

“And there's just no way I’m going to wear Spanx, high heels, drink cheap wine, eat a bad chicken dinner, and smile at the stupid things I know he’s going to say,” she expressed.

Ana Navarro thinks Trump should be made to sit through entire event

On reports claiming that Trump plans to attend the event only to deliver his speech and will leave soon after, Navarro said that it was disrespectful.

“If he’s going to attend, the White House Correspondents' Dinner should demand that he sit through the entire event,” she said.

Hostin added that she would not “grace the event” with her presence because Trump has been attacking journalists. She also criticized Trump for reducing the funding of public broadcasting, attacking journalists, and arresting her friend, former CNN journalist Don Lemon. She also pointed out that the Republican leader "qualifies as the most anti-press president in the dinner's 105-year history."

On the other hand, Sara Haines said she would skip the event because she wants to avoid the host, mentalist Oz Pearlman, who once accurately guessed her ATM PIN during his live appearance on 'The View', causing her nervous breakdown.

“It’s not Donald Trump that’s keeping me from this dinner, it’s Oz Pearlman,” Haines joked. “I warn everyone at this dinner, tell him nothing!”
