NORTH PORT, FLORIDA: Brian Laundrie had shared new life plans with his parents involving Gabby Petito just before tragically ending her life.
According to the disclosed information, the couple had envisioned working for free on an Oregon pumpkin farm, intending to gain valuable farming skills for Brian's future aspiration of running his own farm.
The chilling revelation comes amid a series of events that unfolded, starting with a 911 caller in Moab, Utah, reporting an altercation where Brian was seen hitting Gabby in the face. Following this distressing incident, he abruptly flew home to Florida, citing the need to clear out a storage unit near his parents', Christopher and Roberta Laundrie's residence to save money.
Brian Laundrie hides Moab incident from parents
During his brief stay with his parents, Brian refrained from disclosing the Moab incident or expressing any concerns. Instead, he conveyed to them that he and Gabby had plans to contribute their services to the Oregon pumpkin farm in exchange for parking for her van, as revealed in depositions from Christopher and Roberta during a lawsuit.
The father shared, "He told us again that they were going to Oregon to maybe work in a pumpkin place that they'd get ... learn farming and help with that season of pumpkins," as per Fox.
Roberta added that her son aimed to clear the storage unit as the planned stay at the farm would extend their trip.
The details of the farming venture were not specific to Gabby during that return home, leaving a deceptive facade to the true unfolding tragedy. Notably, despite Brian's parents asserting that their son did not inform them about the Moab incident, Gabby had texted both of her parents from the scene, attaching a photograph of herself with a black eye and blood on her face.
The police intervened, separating the couple for the night. However, after Brian's return to Florida, he rejoined Gabby on the road in Salt Lake City and within two weeks, committed the unthinkable act of taking her life.
Brian Laundrie discusses Oregon pumpkin farm plan
The Oregon pumpkin farm plan resurfaced in an August 28 phone call between Brian and his mother, just a day before he said, as described by Christopher Laundrie, "everything, you know, hit the fan." Gabby was last seen alive on security footage from a Jackson, Wyoming, Whole Foods store on August 27, 2021.
The couple had left the Merry Piglets Tex-Mex restaurant following a public argument between Brian and three female employees. Witnesses reported that he left and returned to the restaurant multiple times before Gabby apologized. She is believed to have been killed that evening or the following day.
In a panic, Brian made a distressing call to his parents claiming Gabby was "gone" and he needed a lawyer. However, instead of staying in Jackson, he took her van and returned to his parents' Florida residence.
Two days after Gabby's mother reported her missing, Brian vanished and took his own life in a swamp, leaving behind a suicide note confessing to her murder.
