Britney Spears seemingly shades stars copying her iconic style: ‘At least mine was real’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears appeared to take a dig at stars who have adopted styles similar to those she sported during her younger days.
The 44-year-old singer posted a new video on Instagram on Saturday, October 17, dancing in a long-sleeved white button-down shirt, a short light gray skirt, and red boots. The post featured Chris Isaak's 1995 song 'Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing'.
Britney Spears says her iconic image was 'real'
In the lengthy caption accompanying the video, Spears wrote, “A lot of girls last year have definitely done the complete image I used to have when I was younger.. and yo that’s cool but at least mine was real…”

Although the mother-of-two did not name anyone in particular, her remarks appeared to refer to the schoolgirl look she made famous in her 1998 music video for '...Baby One More Time'. The outfit became one of the defining images of her early career.
Spears also became known for other memorable looks in music videos such as 'Oops!… I Did It Again' and 'I'm a Slave 4 U'.
The pop icon further described the world as “fake” while reflecting on how people who remain authentic are treated. She wrote, “People who are actually real get hated on… which is a shame.. ok. Maybe I should try harder and get fake nails and do the fake thing.”
Britney Spears calls herself 'PROPHECY' in Instagram post
Spears also revealed that her male friends had suggested she should be fake, adding that she believed being “too kind in real life” was the problem.
“To all the girls who say I’m History… I’M PROPHECY. I’m the original apple B school girl who did backflips and backhand springs and fell in love with people on every set I ever went to… these years were precious so young and naive…” the 'Oops!… I Did It Again' hitmaker asserted.
Concluding her social media post, Spears reflected on the difficulties she had faced and expressed her determination to keep moving forward.

“The world has been hateful to me and I’m still standing, living, and dreaming. Hopefully I will show you guys my pics in Italy soon.. I want to keep them for me though PS no makeup makes you look WAY younger,” she wrote.
Britney Spears previously opened up about her Botox experience
The post came more than two months after the 'Toxic' singer spoke candidly about an unpleasant experience with Botox.
Spears reportedly said that her doctor “put so much Botox in this left eye that it drooped down like that,” while demonstrating the effect to her followers.
The Grammy winner described the experience as “embarrassing” and warned her followers about the procedure.
“Girls, you have to be careful if you do Botox,” she said.
"Be careful with these people. They try to change, like, your face and try things. Be careful with your bodies, because it’s yours and you own it. So, that’s it," Spears added.
