PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump found himself thrust into an unusual spotlight after declaring that America is going through ‘hell’ and he will make it ‘great again’ in 2024.

The 77-year-old GOP presidential candidate made the remarks while addressing his supporters at a New Year's Eve party at his Mar-a-Lago estate, where he also revealed that his wife Melania's mother is ‘very ill’ and the situation has been 'tough' for their family.

“Hopefully she'll be recovering,” the former president prayed for his mother-in-law Amalija Knavs, adding that Melania was absent at the celebration as she is currently at her mother's side at a nearby hospital.

"It's a tough one, a very tough one," Trump continued, adding Melania 'sends her love' to all the people gathered in the resort at Palm Beach, Florida.

Donald Trump claims he will ‘third time’

At one point, Trump claimed that the US “has gone to hell and we're going to turn it around. We're going to turn around pretty quickly.”

“I am gonna win the Great Iowa Caucus. I kept that first of the nation. That's been there for a long time,” the former president stated.

“The Democrats are going to move it back in the pack, and I think they remember that in Iowa. But the caucus starts in two weeks, just about two weeks from now. And here we go, here we go, I win the third time,” he added.

Trump concluded his address claiming that “We are going to have a great 2024. We are going to make America Great Again!”

Trump’s remarks came just a few days after Maine and Colorado barred him from appearing on the state ballots for the 2024 presidential race.

The two-state made the shocking ruling based on their interpretations of how the 14th Amendment's insurrection clause relates to Trump's behavior surrounding the Capitol attack of January 6, 2021,

Internet reacts to Donald Trump’s remarks

After a video showing Trump’s remarks surfaced on social media, many users slammed the former president for claiming that America is going through ‘hell’ and that he will make it ‘great again’ in 2024.

“Bro is still selling that same dream,” one user trolled. “I'm surprised he even keeps that $18 million dump,” the second user slammed.

“So can we clarify? Is it 2024 that we will be making America great again? I sure hope so!” the third user mocked while the fourth one wrote, “Sad, America was always great, but T'Rump for four years did much to tear it down.”

“Sorry. Hate to be a kill joy, but there is no way the deep state will let him back into office. No way. Check Vegas voting odds,” the fifth user asserted. “When exactly was America great?” another one mocked.
