The FBI released new images that provide a clearer look at the person of interest in the mass shooting at Brown University. Investigators obtained the images while canvassing neighborhoods around campus and collecting security camera footage from local residents. In the photos, the individual is seen wearing dark pants, a fleece jacket, a hat, and a face mask, obscuring much of his face.

During a press conference Monday, December 15, the FBI announced it is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the individual’s identification, arrest, and conviction. Authorities say the suspect’s identity and whereabouts remain unknown.

Additional details were released alongside the images in a joint statement from the FBI’s Boston Division, the Providence Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police. The agencies said they are "seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual responsible for the mass shooting at Brown University on Saturday, December 13, 2025."

The statement concluded, "If you have any information concerning this case, please contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Providence Police Department at (401) 272-3121. Providence police release videos from three different angles of suspected gunman

Police also released surveillance videos from three different angles showing the suspected Brown University gunman about two hours before the December 13 shooting. In the brief clips, the individual is seen walking with his hands folded behind his back.

Providence Police Chief Col Oscar L Perez Jr said Monday night he is hopeful the newly released photos and videos will lead to the identification of the person of interest. “I’m hoping that based on the images and video clips that we just released that someone is going to be able to identify this individual,” Perez said.

More than 50 hours into the investigation, local police have been joined by state and federal agencies in the search for the shooter. Authorities confirmed that a person previously detained was later released after determining he was not a person of interest. “When you investigate something, it takes different directions,” Perez said.

Perez emphasized that his officers and detectives remain fully committed to the case. “We can’t wait to put handcuffs on that person,” he said, while urging the shooter to turn himself in.

He concluded, "Obviously, it’s something we’re looking into, as far as if there was anything else that he was targeting, That's something we're investigating. We took statements, and we have to confirm."
