'Bunch of malarkey': Eric Trump mocked for warning George W Bush and Barack Obama could be investigated if Trump is not granted immunity

WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump, issued a warning to the past occupants of the Oval Office, claiming if the Supreme Court does not grant absolute presidential immunity to his father, the prosecutors would "go after every single president."

The ex-president's third-born defended complete immunity to the presidents for the actions done while being in office in an interview with Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures' with Maria Bartiromo, according to the Washington Examiner. He argued that otherwise, it could set a dangerous precedence that could lead to investigations against ex-presidents, including George W Bush and Barack Obama.

SCOTUS heard the GOP presidential hopeful's immunity arguments last week, which he raised to protect himself from criminal charges in allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

Eric Trump's takes on presidential immunity

"God help us if they get it wrong, that's what I take away. I know the system very, very well," Eric said on Fox News. "The only people who are going to benefit are the big law firms in Washington, DC, because they are going to go after every single president."

He also raised the question of where the prosecution of an ex-president would end, arguing, "They'll start with Obama, fast and furious, right where he gives two thousand weapons to cartel members. Then, they'll go to Obama where he weaponized the IRS against conservatives."

The Trump Organization's Executive Vice President added, "Where do you want us to stop? They could go after George Bush for lying about weapons of mass destruction. Where does this stop."

During the April 25 oral hearing, the Supreme Court judges appeared skeptical of blanket immunity for former President Trump's activities towards the end of his term. While the conservative justices, who hold a majority, seemed concerned about the impact of their decision on future presidencies, the liberal justices considered an absolute immunity would make the ex-president a "lawless king."

Further into the interview, Eric claimed prosecutors would also target President Joe Biden once he steps out of the White House. "The floodgates are going to open, and I guarantee you Joe Biden will not have one foot outside of the White House before they start going after him illegally, ruthlessly," he warned.

Eric argued for the need for presidential immunity post-tenure, claiming they would be subjected to depositions and subpoenas like what happened to his father for the last eight years. He also added that only with the provision of absolute immunity a president can properly function.

The left is pressuring the Supreme Court for a timely ruling on the argument to prevent the former president from further delaying the criminal trial beyond the November election.
