WASHINGTON, DC: Republican lawmaker Beth Van Duyne accused President Joe Biden's administration of spending the taxpayers' fund for his re-election "campaign activities," reported Fox News.

The allegations were made as a result of the memorandum of understanding in March between the Small Business Administration and the Michigan Department of State, aiming to "promote civic engagement and voter registration in Michigan" until 2036. The memo stemmed from Biden's 2021 executive order to federal agencies to "promote voter registration and voter participation."

According to Van Dunye, the House Small Business Committee investigation found that 22 of 25 outreach events by the SBA in Michigan took place in counties with a heavy Democratic population.

"This is obviously a campaign attempt to get out Biden voters, and they're using taxpayer dollars to do it, which is in direct violation to the Hatch Act. You don't use taxpayer funds — official funds — to pay for campaign activities, and that's exactly what it appears is going on," said the House Oversight, Investigations, and Regulations Subcommittee chair to Fox News Live.

"They're acting outside the intent of laws that Congress has passed, and they're doing it all to get voters because if they see the polling numbers, they're trying to pull in more, and it's all about power, it's all about control," she accused.

The congresswoman representing Texas added that the SBA should concentrate on "helping these small businesses that right now are being crippled by Biden's economic policies, that are seeing increases in inflation by nearly 20%. They're having a hard time with hiring people because the government is paying them entitlements to stay home. These are the things that the SBA should be focused on. They should be a vocal champion of Main Street and a small business, but they're not."

Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are key battleground states that could be decisive in Biden's victory against his opponent Donald Trump in November. The incumbent won Michigan in 2020 with a nearly 3-point margin against his predecessor.

Van Duyne also stressed that the trend would spread to other states and agencies because of the president's executive order. She also claimed that the House Small Business Committee did not receive a response to the letter they sent to SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman in April regarding the agency's MOU with the Michigan Department of State.

Internet reacts

Netizens were divided into two sides, debating Van Duyne's accusation. While one denounced it, another group sided with her.

One user wrote, "Accusations without evidence are a GOP classic." Another asked, "And why would anyone be surprised by this?"

"‘Deflection’ much?" a user added while another response read, "So that's why he raised the taxes for everyone."

Someone else wrote, "Well, Trump used tax payers’ funds for campaigning on a weekly basis. When Trump was president, he spent 90% of his time on golfing, tweeting, watching TV, doing rallies for his MAGA extremists and trying to steal the election. That was all funded with tax payers’ money." Whereas another argued, Van Duyne has a point. It cannot be focused in only democrat heavy districts."

"SHOW US THE PROOF that would stand up in COURT or just be quiet! GOP have embarrassed themselves constantly with big claims and accusations and then it ALWAYS ends up being lies," an individual said. Meanwhile, another said, "Well Duh !… He is hemorrhaging support with young voters & he announces student debt relief less than 8 months from the Election !.. It didn’t take Dr. Wernher von Braun to figure that out !…"
