WASHINGTON, DC: Lieutenant Governor for Georgia Burt Jones attempted to compare Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House to former pop band Milli Vanilli during his speech at GOP nominee Donald Trump's rally in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, August 3.

A raging German R&B music act of the late 1980s and the early '90s, the group featured the duo Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan. They ran into controversy after it was revealed that the pair did not sing any of the vocals on their music releases, and ended up returning their 1990 Grammy for Best New Artist.

Though he was not explicit in his comments, Jones implied that the untruthful nature of Milli Vannili was comparable to the current administration being untruthful of the way the United States is presently run.

Burt Jones comments at Georgia rally

In a clip from the Trump campaign rally that went viral over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Burt Jones is seen saying, "I don't know if you all remember this but I do, because this is what the White House reminds me of as far as musical talent is concerned. It reminds me of the group Milli Vanilli."

"There were two guys, they claimed to be R&B German artists, even though they had a British accent and they were born in Madrid or something like that... sounded a little bit like Kamala. But what was funny is that they fooled the country for about four years with their entertainment... They had zero talent but it four years for everybody to figure out who they really were."

"Billi Vanilli is what we have in the White House right now. Because I can tell you... they (Biden and Harris) are not running this country right now," he continued.

"The only difference between the two really is, when we found out about Billi Vanilli, the media jumped all over them. When they found out that the current Biden-Harris administration wasn't running the country, they all set to circle the wagons for them, which tells me they are in on it."

Internet trolls Burt Jones over his comments

Netizens reacting to the Lt Governor's remarks on X were not sold on his argument and slammed the Republican for coming up with a valid point of criticism against the Democratic nominee. He was also called out for making decades-old references that did not resonate with the audience, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"lmao Bruh ... Milli Vanilli was from the early 90's... 30 years ago. Really trying to hit that young demo haha," wrote a user.

"Wow he is so trendy! Milli Vanilli! My sides!" jibed another with a gif.

"What a weird take. Example 4,000,000,001 that they have absolutely nothing," chided a third.

"What a weird nonequivalent attempt at something," echoed a fourth user.

"I was not expecting to see the absolute most uneducated and wrong way to describe Milli Vanilli and the issues people had with them," commented a fifth.

"Attempts at comedy going over like a lead balloon," quipped another.
