'Call it TrumpCare': Massie says ObamaCare now belongs to Republicans
WASHINGTON, DC: As Obamacare is currently in the spotlight, given the rising health premiums, Kentucky Rep Thomas Massie (R) suggested that the healthcare program might be renamed after Trump.
As the pandemic-era enhanced subsidies and standard Affordable Care Act (ACA) protections remain operational, middle-class and unsubsidized enrollees face higher out-of-pocket costs.
Thomas Massie claims current system favors insurers
Sharing a social media post on Wednesday, July 8, Thomas Massie said that his party has made no serious effort to legalize affordable health insurance.
“Might as well call it Trumpcare now. Our party has made no serious effort to repeal Obamacare and legalize affordable health insurance after taking control of the House, Senate & White House,” Massie wrote on X.
“Why? Because the current system enriches insurance and hospital companies,” he added.
Republicans technically have the power to repeal or alter the ACA if they secure at least 60 votes in the Senate to overcome a filibuster.
Might as well call it Trumpcare now.

Massie has frequently criticized President Donald Trump during his second term, becoming even more vocal after the president backed a Republican primary challenger against him.
He is among a small group of Republican lawmakers who argue the party has failed to deliver on key legislative priorities despite controlling the White House and holding majorities in both the House and Senate.
Marjorie Taylor Greene says price hike would be brutal
Former Georgia Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene previously said the surge in pricing would be “brutal” for the middle class, small-business owners and families, including her own.
“Johnson said he’s got ideas and pages of policy ideas and committees of jurisdiction are working on it, but he refused to give one policy proposal to our GOP conference on our own conference call,” Greene wrote on X in November before resigning. “Apparently I have to go into a SCIF to find out the Republican healthcare plan!!!”
Republicans float health savings accounts
Republicans have floated the expansion of health savings accounts as a key component of their health policy reform.
The party has been pushing for a market-driven alternative to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or expanded government health programs.
A health savings account allows people to save money tax-free for medical expenses, often pairing them with high-deductible health plans to shift financial risk and choice directly to the consumer.
The IRS recently upped contribution limits to $4,400 for individuals and $8,750 for families. In 2027, limits will rise to $4,500 and $9,000, respectively.
