FLORIDA, MIAMI: A Florida man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and her mother reportedly entered a police station and confessed to the killings.

Days earlier, authorities claim he had posted strange messages on Facebook, one of which included the emoji of a praying hand and said, "Thanks goodbye for forgiving me. Amen, I'm prepared for anything."

The post was also accompanied by an image of what appeared to be the interior of a church during a prayer service. Law&Crime examined the message along with others on Thursday.

Carlos Travieso confessed his crime

Police were called to a shooting at a Miami condominium complex at approximately nine in the morning on December 13, according to WTVJ.

They discovered the 50-year-old Irisbel Cartalla and her 22-year-old daughter, Isbelsy Olivera, dead on arrival. Olivera was shortly recognized by the police as Carlos Travieso's ex-girlfriend.

West Miami Police reported that Travieso drove to the station, walked in, and confessed his crimes to an officer about thirty minutes after the shootings. He informed them that he had "assassinated" the women while speaking in Spanish.

Surveillance footage, according to the police, also showed Travieso had been hanging around the "Flagami" apartment complex in the Miami neighborhood for almost half an hour before the killings.

Travieso may have only entered the complex by forcing his way past a different resident who was entering before ambushing the mother and daughter inside.

According to authorities, he had also hidden a gun until he took it out to shoot Olivera and Cartalla. According to Miami's ABC affiliate WPLG, Cartalla was scheduled to turn 51 this weekend, and her daughter was one week away from turning 23 when she died.

Carlos Travieso was taken into custody

Additional Facebook posts that Travieso shared on his account featured him with friends and family. A lot of the posts are sentimental or seem to be yearning for earlier or better times.

A few days before the killings, there was another post with an image of Travieso walking down the street wearing sunglasses.

He wrote, “Only good knows why he does things and when he does them.”

Facebook's translation of the Spanish to English message continues with more emojis of hands in prayer before saying, "Friend the cheese mouse, enemy the one you have on the side."

Days before the killings, he was pictured on Facebook with a woman he called his "cousin". He wrote, "My beautiful cousin what good times those I only remember."

In another photo, Travieso wrote, "This is my life in this picture," and "I love you so much." It featured multiple family members and showed him appearing to be hugging a child.

This week's initial court appearance included a translator translating between Spanish and English, and according to court documents, a public defender was assigned. When the lawyer was asked to comment, the lawyer did not get back to them right away.

Travieso was taken into custody right away and no bond was given. His arraignment has been scheduled for early January.
