Carville predicts Trump resignation timeline, says exit could come by Easter 2027
WASHINGTON, DC: Stalwart Democratic strategist James Carville, who has frequently argued that Trump would not be able to complete his second tenure in White House, has once again made a similar prediction, saying the president would resign before Easter 2027.
Carville made the bombshell remark during an episode of his Podcast ‘Politics War Room’ on Sunday, June 14, as he appeared with co-host Al Hunt.
Trump’s midterm approach draws scrutiny
Appearing on his podcast with his co-host, veteran political strategist Carville made a case why he thinks President Donald Trump will resign by Easter of 2027.
Asked whether Trump might secretly want Republicans to lose the 2026 midterms so he could campaign against Democratic investigations, Carville’s co-host Al Hunt dismissed the idea outright.
“No way in the world,” Hunt said, arguing that Trump’s political efforts suggest the opposite.
He pointed to Republican-backed redistricting efforts and broader attempts to weaken Democrats ahead of the elections, saying the president is “petrified” of losing control of Congress.
According to Hunt, Trump’s concern is not primarily about advancing his legislative agenda but about the prospect of facing congressional investigations.
He argued that a Democratic victory would hand lawmakers subpoena power and the ability to scrutinize the administration more aggressively, adding that Trump fears what such probes could uncover.
"I don't think he's ever going to go to jail," Hunt added. "But I'll tell you, some of this stuff is really going to what we know is awful. What they're hiding is even worse. So, you better believe he wants to win the midterms."
Carville predicts ‘breathtaking’ anti-Trump vote
While Hunt said Trump would want to ensure his control over Congress, James Carville had a different view to offer on the question.
Carville declared, "Trump has no earthly idea of what's coming. They're not telling him. The vote against him in November is going to be, like, breathtaking."
"He's already bored," Carville added. "He can't stay awake. He says he's bored with the Iran war. He's — and I'm telling you, this guy by Easter of 2027 is just going to walk away from this job.”
“Just gonna f---ing walk away because he doesn't have any idea of what it's going to be like when he comes to grips with the massive — I mean it's going to be massive rejection of him, anybody that has anything to do with him, anything that he has anything to do with."
This is not the first time that Carville predicted Trump’s resignation. Earlier, he said that Trump will give his place to JD Vance and get himself a pardon from the President to avoid going to jail.
However, this was the first time that Carville offered a timeline, saying he would resign before Easter 2027.
