Chase Daniel Jones: Teen faces homicide charges for high-speed crash that killed woman and 3 children
RENTON, WASHINGTON: Chase Daniel Jones, 18, is facing homicide charges for a collision that resulted in the deaths of a Washington state woman and three children.
The devastating event unfolded when the teen allegedly drove his 2015 Audi A4 at a speed exceeding 100 mph, colliding with 38-year-old Andrea Hudson's minivan on March 19.
Chase Daniel Jones was allegedly driving at 112 mph on a road with a posted speed limit of 40 mph
Jones crashing into the minivan claimed the lives of Andrea, Boyd Buster Brown, 12, and sisters Matilda and Eloise Wilcoxson, aged 13 and 12 respectively. The severity of the crash pushed the minivan into two other vehicles, compounding the tragedy.
Andrea's two children, Nolan Hudson and Charlotte Hudson, were critically injured in the incident and are currently at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Details emerging from the scene reveal a harrowing account of recklessness, as the teen reportedly disregarded a red light at an intersection in the Fairwood community, according to a police report obtained by the Seattle Times.
Authorities allege that Jones was traveling at 112 mph without any indication of braking on a road with a posted speed limit of 40 mph.
Chase Daniel Jones charged with vehicular homicide and vehicular assault
Jones, who sustained severe injuries in the collision, had acquired the Audi in February, following two previous accidents caused by speeding, according to King County prosecutors cited by mynorthwest.com.
As authorities piece together the sequence of events, he faces a litany of charges, including four counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault, and reckless driving, as reported by Fox 13.
Jaron Brown, the father of Buster Brown, described his late son as "one of the most fun-loving, adventurous kids."
Hudson was depicted as a devoted mother and wife. "She enjoyed spending time adventuring with [her family] in nature, and was an avid health enthusiast and cook," a GoFundMe page for the Husdon family expressed.
It added, "Her absence has left a hole in our hearts and will be felt by many."
