WASHINGTON, DC: Cheryl Hines was slammed by online users for showing up to support her controversial husband, Robert F Kennedy Jr, at his nomination hearing to lead the Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday, January 29.

Hines received rapid criticism for attending the confirmation hearing in support of her contentious husband as one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "Standing by her ‘husband’ is abhorrent as he poses a deadly threat to all Americans and our healthcare system."

As her husband testified before the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday, the Democrat and Trump critic sat behind him. Conservative pundit Megyn Kelly also sat next to Hines in the crowd.

Hines kissed her husband before he was grilled in front of the Senate Finance Committee. The politician, who was chosen by President Trump to lead the US Department of Health and Human Services, will be questioned over his contentious campaign, per Page Six.

The couple stayed close to one other despite being surrounded by photographers on their way to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Hines could be seen sitting directly behind her husband once they entered the hearing room, studying him closely while he was interrogated.

Hines mostly remained silent since Kennedy endorsed Trump and suspended his independent campaign, but she has become more visible since the new administration took office.

The 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' alum, 59, walked with Kennedy on Inauguration Day and performed on stage at her husband's "Make America Healthy Again Ball," where he introduced her favorite vocalist, Jewel.

Hines wore a white shirt and a blue suit with pinstripes. She went for a smokey makeup look and wore minimal jewelry. The couple maintained minimal PDA despite their passionate kiss.

RFK Jr claims not to be 'anti-vaccine' or 'anti-industry' but rather 'pro-safety'

Kennedy began his opening remarks by expressing gratitude to Hines, his son Bobby, and his daughter Kit, the two of his six children who attended Wednesday's hearing.

In his opening remarks on Wednesday, he asserted that he is "pro-safety" rather than "anti-vaccine" or "anti-industry." He will also appear before the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee on Thursday, January 30.

RFK Jr currently awaits confirmation as the HHS chief. However, several politicians raised concerns regarding his credentials and prior skepticism regarding vaccines, making them reluctant to confirm him.

Kennedy's hearing took place a day after his cousin Caroline Kennedy criticized his candidacy, calling him "unqualified to fill" the position and a "predator" with "dangerous" views on vaccines.

Former President John F Kennedy's daughter encouraged senators to reject her cousin in a video message that was uploaded on X on Tuesday, January 28.

"He lacks any relevant government, financial, management or medical experience. His views on vaccines are dangerous and willfully misinformed," Caroline said.

She also accused RFK Jr in her harsh post of inciting vaccine reluctance, which resulted in a "deadly 2019 outbreak of measles" in American Samoa.

A second user added, "I just said the exact same thing!!! Plus she really likes being a Kennedy! To bad it’s the wrong Kennedy!!"

"Promising healthy food and drug transparency. The horror!" exclaimed a third user.
