NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Cheryl Hines is enraged over her husband former independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr's alleged affair with New York Magazine political reporter Olivia Nuzzi, as per sources who spoke with the New York Post.

The 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' actress is yet to publicly comment upon the sexting scandal involving her 70-year-old husband and 31-year-old Nuzzi. But the insider noted that she "has a backbone" and is "no pushover."

The news of an alleged digital-only relationship between Robert F Kennedy Jr and Olivia Nuzzi came to light on Thursday, September 19, sending shockwaves across political and media circles.

Both of them were involved with other individuals when the affair reportedly took place. While RFK Jr has been married to Hines for 10 years, Nuzzi was, at the time, engaged to Politico reporter Ryan Lizza.

Lizza confirmed that they had called off their engagement a day after his ex-fiancee Nuzzi's alleged tryst with RFK Jr was unveiled. 

The New York Magazine placed Nuzzi on leave in light of the revelation, stating, "She had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures."

The journalist admitted in her statement without naming the former presidential candidate that “the nature of some communications between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal” but insisted that it was never physical.

A representative for RFK Jr stated that the latter had met Nuzzi "once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece."

The insider, who shared with the NYP that Hines was possibly fuming in private in light of the recent revelations, further stated that Robert F Kennedy Jr "was on the road a lot this year, so maybe it was different and tested the relationship."

They added, "I don’t imagine her putting up with this. She has a backbone. She’s not a little housewife at home. She is successful and financially independent on her own." 

Another tipster predicted a break-up, stating, "I’ll be shocked if Cheryl stays. (Kennedy’s) always been known as a flirt and more, even Cheryl knows that. But it seemed like at least publicly he was faithful. It’s not good for Cheryl in Hollywood." 

They added that the "entire Kennedy family has written Robert off. So his allure is totally gone."

Netizens didn't think that the scandal involving Rober F Kennedy Jr and Olivia Nuzzi was something that would surprise many. Notably, his marriage to the late Mary Kathleen Richardson is said to have been fraught with infidelity. 

One wrote, "All Kennedy’s are known to have affairs," possibly hinting at the scandal involving former President John F Kennedy and Mimi Alford. "I mean, he IS a Kennedy. What did she expect?" said another. 

"Kennedy gonna Kennedy," quipped a person, while someone else added, "It’s the Kennedy way." "Dump his a**," an individual advised Hines.
