Chicago police insiders blast department for ordering officers to abandon ICE agents during protest

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Two senior Chicago police sources strongly denied their department's claim that their officers indeed helped ICE agents who were surrounded by protesters on Saturday, October 4.
In their statement to Fox News, they said, "Their statement is COVER THEIR A** BULLS**T!! The IRT team was called off while they were en route to handle the shooting—the ETs were told to disregard"
Their comments came following an alleged internal dispatch, which revealed that Chicago police officers were ordered by their chief of patrol not to respond when Border Patrol agents called for help.

What was the alleged CPD internal dispatch message

The ICE agents said they were surrounded by protesters after being cornered by ten vehicles outside the city.
The internal dispatch message telling CPD officers not to help, allegedly read, "PLEASE CHIEF OF PATROL NO UNITS WILL RESPOND TO THIS AS RELATED FROM 04-Oc5-2025/12:34:44…CALLER IS 1 OF APPROX 30 ARMED PATROL AGENTS (ICE) WHO ARE BEING SURROUNDED BY A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE REQUESTING CPD."

CDP issued a statement disputing the claim
On Sunday, Chicago police, through a statement, disputed the claims that CPD officers were told not to respond to ICE agents asking for help. They asserted that they were on the scene to manage safety and document the issue.
The department said, "To clarify misinformation currently circulating, CPD officers did in fact respond to the shooting scene involving federal authorities on Saturday to maintain public safety and traffic control."

"The Chicago Police Department will always respond to anyone who is being attacked or is under the threat of physical harm," the department said. "For incidents involving federal immigration enforcement, CPD supervisors will respond to the scene and determine the appropriate course of action in accordance with City law."
Police sources dismiss CPD's statement
But two senior Chicago police sources told Fox News that the department’s statement was false, and the internal communication suggests otherwise.
Pointing to the dispatch audio, one ranking source revealed that the department’s statement is untrue.
"I’m so irate about it, I filed FOIA requests last night," a source said. "I have never been more embarrassed to be a former member of this department with the current leadership in place."

They added, "I feel for the men and women left behind, forced to work under these cowards as their command channel."
One of the sources also helped interpret the dispatch audio, explaining that "999 is the watch commander of the 9th District." The insider also explained that 900 refers to a commander and 962 is a tactical sergeant.
"Initially, they were going to meet a bit of a distance away from the location, obviously to give proper instructions. Then he got back on and told them not to go... that is the lieutenant. He was obviously given instructions and changed what he initially said from ‘go there’ to ‘do not go there,'" the source informed.
