ICE agents ‘boxed in by 10 cars’ amid escalating tensions in Chicago suburb

ILLINOIS, CHICAGO: Federal agents came under attack for the second consecutive day in Broadview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago where anti-ICE demonstrations have escalated.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), agents conducting routine patrols on October 4 were rammed by vehicles and “boxed in” by ten cars.

Federal agents attacked again near Chicago, DHS official details violent encounter
“This morning, during routine patrolling in Broadview, in the same area of Chicago where law enforcement officers were assaulted yesterday, our brave law enforcement officers were rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars. Agents were unable to move their vehicles and exited the car,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
McLaughlin said one of the drivers involved in ramming federal vehicles was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement officers “were forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed US citizen,” she noted. The woman later drove herself to a hospital for treatment.
The armed suspect had reportedly been flagged in a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intelligence bulletin last week for doxxing federal agents and urging violence against them online, writing: “Hey to all my gang let’s f*** those M*****f***** up, don’t let them take anyone.”

DHS says Chicago police left scene after attack on federal agents
In her statement, McLaughlin sharply criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s administration and local police.
“Pritzker’s Chicago Police Department is leaving the shooting scene and refuses to assist us in securing the area. There is a growing crowd and we are deploying special operations to control the scene,” she said.
Despite the violence, McLaughlin confirmed that no federal law enforcement officers were seriously injured. DHS emphasized that the incident remains “an evolving situation” and pledged to release more details as they become available.

Kristi Noem claims she was blocked during Broadview ICE unrest
The ICE processing center in Broadview has been at the center of protests for days, drawing large anti-ICE crowds.
More than a dozen demonstrators were arrested outside the facility, according to Fox News. The protests have grown increasingly confrontational, creating flashpoints between federal authorities and local officials.
That same day, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said she and her staff were blocked from entering the Village of Broadview Municipal Building, located about 12 miles west of downtown Chicago. She criticized Governor Pritzker and his allies as “cronies” in a post on X:
My team and I were just blocked from accessing the Village of Broadview Municipal Building in Illinois. We were stopping for a quick bathroom break. This is a public building. The Village of Broadview receives at least $1 million in federal funding every year.

Later, she shared a video of law enforcement activity captioned: “Chicago, we’re here for you.”
