Grieving mom of Chiefs fan demands charges against party host after son found 'frozen to death' with 2 pals
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: The heart-wrenching tragedy of three young men found dead in a Kansas City backyard continues to haunt their families, with a grieving mother now demanding accountability from the host of the ill-fated party.
David Harrington, 37, Ricky Johnson, 38, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, had gathered at Jordan Willis' residence on January 7 to watch a Kansas City Chiefs playoff game. However, their night ended in a nightmare, with their lifeless bodies discovered in Willis' yard two days later, frozen in the bitter cold.
Jennifer Marquez, the mother of David Harrington, asserts, "I believe there should be some charges." She expressed frustration over the lack of closure, stating, "There's no information being released, even though the police are still working from my understanding on the case," as per Fox News Digital.
The three mysterious deaths are not classified as homicide
The sequence of events surrounding the tragedy raises troubling questions. Despite frantic attempts by friends and family to reach Willis after the men failed to return home, he remained unreachable for two days until McGeeney's fiancee took matters into her own hands.
The grim discovery of the bodies followed, prompting Willis to vacate his residence and seek refuge in rehab. While investigators ruled out foul play even though initial toxicology reports indicated the presence of drugs in the victims' systems, Marquez insists that the homeowner bears responsibility.
She claims, "If you have a party and serve too much alcohol and someone drives away from your house and has a wreck and kills themselves or others, you can be charged with overserving. He had a party and three people died — he should have charges brought against him."
"Jordan [is] just going on with his life, while the rest of us are having to deal with the loss of family members. Was his computer checked to see if he had been on it at any time in the two days that he didn't answer… and never received any text or anything from family or friends of the men or even his work?" further noted Marquez.
She stressed, "You would think he checked on his work so he wouldn't be in trouble or behind and that would prove he lied about not knowing [the men were dead or dying in his backyard]."
Jordan Willis insists he has nothing to do with the death of his friends
Willis' attorney adamantly denies any wrongdoing on his client's part, asserting that, "He had absolutely nothing to do with their deaths." According to the lawyer's account, Willis bid farewell to his friends before retiring for the night at 2 am, unaware of the tragedy unfolding outside.
The anguish of the families is compounded by the lingering uncertainty surrounding the circumstances of the deaths.
Harrington's parents alleged that "somebody gave them something that would kill them." "What matters is that he didn't take that to die... It just means that there's more to the story, there's more to it than just that. He didn't take that to die. if he took the drugs on his own, he took them to get high."
Amid the ongoing investigation, the Kansas City Police Department maintains that foul play is not suspected. They continue to explore all leads in collaboration with the Platte County Prosecutor's office.
