SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS: A festive atmosphere turned into chaos as gunfire erupted at a crowded San Antonio festival, leaving two dead and four wounded in its wake.

The shocking incident unfolded during the final day of the Fiesta San Antonio at Market Square, with cameras capturing the harrowing aftermath on Sunday morning, April 28. Footage reveals panicked crowds scattering as police rush to confront the shooters amidst screams and chaos.



 

Insights into the San Antonio Fiesta shooting

According to San Antonio police, two gunmen, aged 18 and 20, lost their lives in the shootout, while four female bystanders sustained injuries. Details regarding the identities of those involved and the motive behind the altercation remain undisclosed.

The tragedy shattered the celebratory atmosphere of the 11-day Fiesta event. Gunshots rang out near the stage on Conch Alley, prompting swift police intervention. Authorities report that officers engaged in pursuit of the teenage gunman after he fired upon his 20-year-old counterpart, resulting in fatal injuries, reported Daily Mail.



 

The 18-year-old gunman succumbed to his wounds at the scene, while the other gunman died later at a local hospital. In a tweet issued at 3 am, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus confirmed the tragic outcome, stating, "I'm on the scene of an OIS that occurred just before the end of the Market Square Fiesta event."

"The two individuals who were shooting at each other are deceased. Four others received non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured. We have a very busy crime scene here. We're trying to sort everything out. We had two officers return fire, and he was just pronounced dead."



 

Authorities seize firearms from the crime and initiate probe 

Among the injured bystanders, two women, aged 36 and 29, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while two others were treated at the scene. The circumstances surrounding their injuries, whether inflicted by the gunmen or police, remain unclear.

Police recovered two handguns from the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident. Chief McManus commended the swift action of officers who responded to the chaotic scene near South Santa Rosa and Dolorosa.
