Chris Cuomo blasts Kamala Harris’ ‘price gauging’ gaffe while calling for ‘better people’ in politics
WASHINGTON, DC: NewsNation host Chris Cuomo criticized Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday evening, August 16, shortly after she made a gaffe while presenting her economic plan to voters in North Carolina.
Harris partially attributed inflation to corporate greed, accusing major food suppliers of price gouging. During her remarks, she mistakenly referred to the practice as “price gauging” instead of the correct term “price gouging".

“I will work to past the first-ever federal ban on price gauging on food,” Kamala Harris said during her speech. She also proposed expanded tax credits and down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers.
On his segment on Friday, Cuomo aired a segment about Harris' gaffe and emphasized it before declaring that American voters need more "talent" in candidates seeking public office, MediaITE.
Cuomo stated, "So, price gauging versus gouging, she made a mistake. We noted it. Second, going after corporations is popular. Doing it about inflation is popular. Sixty percent of us believe corporations are to blame for it."
"The question is, what do you do, right? Blame versus change. So Harris says she’s targeting price gouging. I don’t really care about gouging, gauging. I don’t care, alright?"
"You got to take the level of talent where you find it. We don’t have great talent in our politics right now. We got to wait for better people to want to get involved in what is such a poison process. But this is who we got," he concluded.
Harris stirred up controversy on Friday in North Carolina when she implied that record-high food prices that are hitting Americans in grocery stores are a result of corporate greed.
The Washington Post editorial wrote about Harris' remarks, “Vice President Kamala Harris’s speech Friday was an opportunity to get specific with voters about how a Harris presidency would manage an economy that many feel is not working well for them. Unfortunately, instead of delivering a substantial plan, she squandered the moment on populist gimmicks."
