Chris Evans says fatherhood gives him a 'really good reason' to stay home with Alba Baptista
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Evans has shared a rare update on fatherhood and family life, revealing how becoming a dad has changed his priorities. The actor spoke about his daughter, Alma Grace Baptista Evans, during an appearance at Fan Expo Boston 2026 earlier this month.
Evans said fatherhood has also changed the way he approaches work. He shares his daughter with ‘Warrior Nun’ actress Alba Baptista, with the couple quietly welcoming Alma in Massachusetts in October 2025.

“I have a daughter now. You need a really good reason to want to go to work now,” Evans said, adding, “[My] priorities have shifted a bit,” in a clip from the event shared by a social media user.
Rumors of Baptista’s pregnancy began in June 2025 after her father, Luiz Baptista, seemingly let the news slip in a comment on a fan account’s Father’s Day post celebrating him and Evans’ father, G. Robert Evans III.
“Many thanks, dear Chris. Your turn is coming! ” Luiz wrote, appearing to mistake the account for Evans’ own. He previously told Access Hollywood in November 2024 that he “absolutely” wanted to become a father one day.
“I hope so. The title of dad is an exciting one,” Evans said when asked if he wanted to follow in his ‘Red One’ co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s footsteps. A source told PEOPLE in the days after Alma’s birth that he was “completely in awe of his daughter.”
“He’s been soaking in every quiet moment and couldn’t be more proud to be a girl dad,” the source added. Shortly after news broke that the couple had welcomed their first baby together, another source confirmed that, "they’re enjoying their privacy and these special first few days as a family with their baby."
In March, less than five months after becoming parents, Evans and Baptista made a rare post-baby appearance at the 2026 Academy Awards, hitting the red carpet together for their first Oscars as a couple.

Their romance first made headlines in November 2022, when reports revealed they had been quietly dating for more than a year. He seemingly confirmed their relationship months later by sharing sweet snaps of the pair on Instagram for Valentine’s Day.
They tied the knot in an intimate Massachusetts ceremony in September 2023 before celebrating again with Baptista’s family in Portugal. Around that time, Evans also opened up to PEOPLE about his desire to settle down and start a family.
“That’s absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family,” he said adding, “When you read about most of the best artists, whether it’s actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn’t the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships; the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared."
That same month, another source told PEOPLE that Evans “got serious very quickly” after meeting Baptista for the first time in Europe. The insider further added, “He kept saying he knew she was the one. He has been ready to settle down for a while. He can’t wait to have a family. He was just waiting for the right girl.”
Evans is also officially set to return as Captain America in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, marking his first MCU appearance since 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame.'
