BARNEGAT, NEW JERSEY: It is purported that Christopher Gregor, the father who is charged with the killing of Corey Micciolo, 6, by making him run at high speeds on a treadmill, is the son of David Gregor, 64, a former state trooper in New Jersey.

A Jersey Shore Online article from 2022 regarding David's son's ongoing criminal case described him as "a highly decorated" trooper who retired as a lieutenant prior to 2013, according to the information in his mother's obituary.

David Gregor worked as the Middlesex County Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program Coordinator. It's unclear if he is still employed by the county in New Jersey.

Christopher Gregor is a former high school football star

Christopher Gregor attended Monroe Township High School, where he was an honor student and an all-state defensive lineman who played for the school's 2009 Group III state championship football team.

Christopher is a former high school football star and youth mentor who met little Corey Micciolo for the first time barely a year before he allegedly abused him to death, New York Post reported.

According to a 2010 Home News Tribune article, Christopher was even chosen to participate in the district's middle school "Heroes and Cool Kids" mentorship program, which is only open to high school students who are "considered positive role models by their administrators."

According to his LinkedIn profile, he has been employed as a real estate agent at Red Door Real Estate in New Jersey since February 2018.

Christopher has had numerous run-ins with the law over the years in a number of states, including Connecticut and Maryland, where public records reveal that between August 2017 and April 2018, he was charged with over half a dozen crimes, including robbery, assault, and property destruction.

Christopher Gregor subjected 6-year-old son to extreme workout

CCTV footage from a country club gym in Middletown, New Jersey, shows Christopher subjecting Corey to an abhorrent workout because he believed the child was overweight.

He quickly increased the incline and speed of the treadmill after placing the boy on it, until the child took off.

Christopher appears to have bit Corey's head when he picked the child up and put him back on the speeding belt, but the video shows that the child fell another six times while frantically trying to keep up until his father eventually slowed down.

After being admitted to the hospital for two weeks, Corey died from blunt force injuries, which included contusions to his heart and liver.

Christopher dismissed a 30-year plea deal; if found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars. He's being held at Ocean County Jail without bond.
