Chuck Todd claims mainstream media hid Biden's decline as they didn't want to come across as pro-Trump

WASHINGTON, DC: Chuck Todd dropped a bombshell recently when he claimed on Piers Morgan’s show earlier this week that the legacy media made a mistake by not reporting dutifully about the former president Joe Biden’s apparently worsening cognitive condition. 

The 53-year-old former ‘Meet the Press’ host recently appeared on ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’ and claimed that the mainstream media tiptoed around reporting about Biden’s decline, as they did not want to be perceived as someone helping Donald Trump in the election last year. 

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, the corporate media downplayed Biden’s cognitive decline until the disastrous June 2024 presidential debate, which subsequently led the former commander-in-chief to step down from the race for the office.

While this has long been speculated by thousands of Americans, Todd’s candid admission attempted to give an insight into the modus operandi of "some members" of the left-leaning media.

Chuck Todd opened up about leftist media not choosing to report on Joe Biden’s condition 

Speaking to Piers Morgan, the longtime NBC News host shared, “I sit here, and I’ll defend a little bit of this in that I would argue the reason people were able to come to their own conclusion on Joe Biden is because of the media coverage.”

Todd continued, “Look, we were subtle,” before going on to give examples, “‘He’s using the back staircase. He’s not using the front staircase.’ ‘Hey, he’s not doing any interviews.’”

“So there was this reluctance to draw the conclusion, to say, ‘Is he not doing this?’ And that I agree with,” continued the veteran journalist, before confessing, “That was held back — held back a lot.”

He added, “The only thing I can chalk it up to is this, whatever you want to call it, this fear that some members of the media had sometimes — that they would be perceived as helping Trump if they somehow diminished Biden," before rhetorically asking, “Right?”

“That it was some sort of zero-sum game,” explained Todd, before admitting the mistake of the traditional mainstream media. “And I think this has been the fundamental mistake that many members of the traditional press have done,” noted the George Washington University alum. 

Internet reacts to Chuck Todd's confession about mainstream media's modus operandi

The Internet was left disgruntled with the new piece of information as they bashed the Democrats for prioritizing "winning over seeking the truth."

Following Todd's confession on 'Piers Morgan Uncensored', one of the social media users wrote, "The more chuck todds I hear, the more I am rooting for Donald Trump – and our country."

Someone else, however, wrote in reply, "You just literally described how the right wing eco system works. It don't have to be true, you just gotta say it a lot."

"I mean, we knew that of course. But at least they're finally starting to admit it," shared one of the users on X. 

"The Democratic Party prioritizes winning over seeking the truth," added someone else. 

One person even called out Todd, saying, "He Todd was one of the main liars on tv. Does he pretend now he wasn’t?"

"“Helping Trump” and they really believe they aren’t biased. Personal perceived reality is delusion in real life. Incredible that anyone even watches or listens any longer to their bs," added another. 

"Why are you talking about Biden? Talk about Trump's decline," one person said.
