WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Joe Biden has reportedly told the Democrats that he is willing to take up the job of raising funds and campaigning for them, amid the abysmally low support for the Dems in the electorate.

However, the 82-year-old's request has been rejected by the party.

Democrats not interested in entertaining Joe Biden's request

Joe Biden privately met with the new Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin, where he promised to help boost the party’s credibility and funds, according to a report by NBC News.

However, his request was reportedly rejected as several Democrats feel that he is closely related to their defeat in the 2024 election. "Who’s going to want Joe Biden back in the game?" told one Biden supporter to NBC News.

Moreover, they also insinuated that at this point, the octogenarian is not, strictly speaking, a face of the party’s future.

A section of the Democrats are also angry at the former commander-in-chief for not relinquishing the bid for his second term of presidency to Kamala Harris sooner.

However, it is not only the former president, but his wife, Jill Biden, is also reportedly preparing for a political comeback.

A source told the outlet that she is also preparing to campaign and raise money for her fellow Democrats.

The insider close to the former first lady shared, "She recognizes that serving in the capacities that she served is an honor and it comes with responsibilities to the party. And she’s prepared to help in any way she can."

Donald Trump 'hopes' Joe Biden will return to political sphere

While Joe Biden’s fate with the Democrats still remains undecided, his former rival is reportedly hoping that his predecessor would come back to the politics.

When President Donald Trump was asked by reporters on Friday, March 21, about the prospect of Biden re-entering the political sphere, he replied, "I hope so."

Moreover, ever since his inauguration, Trump has allegedly mentioned his predecessor about 400 times, as reported by The Daily Beast.

The outlet reported that Biden has become the favorite punching bag of the Republicans when something goes awry with their plan.

During a recent press conference, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt even said, "We are still very much fixing so many of the problems created or started by the Biden administration."
