WASHINGTON, DC: Glenn Greenwald blasted Senator Elizabeth Warren for what he called a glaring contradiction in her stance on US-Iran policy.

The journalist accused the veteran lawmaker of flip-flopping after she both warned against war with Iran and then applauded parts of President Donald Trump’s tough rhetoric on Tehran during his State of the Union address.

Glenn Greenwald slams Elizabeth Warren for giving Trump a 'standing ovation'

Greenwald called out the veteran Democrat writing, "Elizabeth Warren came onto social media to feed her d**b liberal followers this pleasant-sound cliche about 'No war with Iran,' then, a couple hours later, gave Trump a standing ovation during the most militant part of his speech about war with Iran. Classic Democrat."

He shared a photo of Warren standing and clapping during Trump’s Tuesday, February 24, speech. The image had a red circle and arrow pointing at her so his followers could easily see her in the crowd.

His criticism was in response to a post Warren made earlier that day, where she said the US should avoid another war with Iran.

She wrote, "The American people want President Trump to focus on making life more affordable for working families here at home, not sending our military into another endless war in the Middle East."

About three hours later, Trump said in his speech that he would not allow Iran to keep developing nuclear weapons and that he would like to solve the problem through diplomacy.

He said, "We are in negotiations with them. They want to make a deal, but we haven’t heard those secret words. We will never have a nuclear weapon. My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy. But one thing is certain, I will never allow the world’s number one sponsor of te**or, which they are by far, to have a nuclear weapon. Can’t let that happen."

Elizabeth Warren applauded after Trump called on Congress to pass SIT Act

During Trump's Tuesday night State of the Union address, Warren not only stood during the POTUS' remarks on Iran but also applauded when he called on Congress to pass the Stop Insider Trading Act “without delay.”

“As we ensure that all Americans can profit from a rising stock market, let's also ensure that members of Congress cannot corruptly profit from using insider information,” Trump said, highlighting the stock market’s strength.

His appeal for the legislation drew applause and standing ovations from lawmakers, with one photo showing Warren clapping in support.

Trump and Warren have been long-time political adversaries, with the Republican leader famously dubbing her “Pocahontas” over her Native American ancestry claims. Still, recent events suggest their relationship may be warming.

This public show of engagement comes just a month after Warren said Trump personally called her to discuss his plan to cap credit card interest rates, an issue gaining bipartisan attention as both parties focus on affordability ahead of the midterms.
