WASHINGTON, DC: After a court ordered President Donald Trump's name removed from the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a new poll finds that putting his name on federal buildings has little public support.

CNN’s Harry Enten, sharing the data on Monday, June 1, said that the American people are asking Trump to stop.

Polling on President Donald Trump's proposal to put his name on government buildings showed so little support that more Americans believed the Earth is flat than backed the idea.

CNN data analyst says Americans are asking Trump to stop

“I’m just going to quote Michael Jordan here,” Enten said. “‘Stop it! Just stop it’, the American people are saying to the president of the United States.”

According to data highlighted by CNN's Harry Enten, support for naming government buildings after President Donald Trump was expressed by only 9% of Americans.

In contrast, 10% of respondents said they believed the Earth is flat, while 12% said the moon landing was faked. The findings were cited as an indication of how unpopular the naming proposal remains among the public.

“To put that into some perspective, 10% of Americans believe that the Earth is flat, and 12% of Americans think that the moon landing was faked. Fewer Americans think it’s acceptable right now to put President Trump’s name on government buildings than believe two conspiracy theories,” Enten said.

“And when you’re lower than that, you know that you’re doing something quite, quite unpopular,” he added.

Harry Enten explains Trump's low approval ratings

Enten argued that Trump was elected to address issues such as inflation, but said the president was now receiving some of his weakest marks on the economy.

Citing polling data, Enten noted that only 29% of Americans believe Trump is sufficiently focused on issues affecting most people. By contrast, 68% said the president is not paying enough attention to the concerns facing everyday Americans.

According to Enten, the findings help explain Trump's declining approval ratings in several recent polls, where support for the president has fallen into the 30% range.

He argued that many voters believe Trump is prioritizing the wrong issues instead of focusing on the concerns that matter most to the public.

“Dude! Again, just to quote Michael Jordan, 'stop it! stop it!'" Enten said. “Focus on inflation, focus on the economy, and then maybe your approval ratings will get above 40%”
