WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump is doing far better in public opinion than his predecessor Joe Biden when it comes to the United States' involvement in the war between Ukraine and Russia, according to a recent poll conducted by CBS News/YouGov.

CNN senior political data reporter Harry Enten was surprised while sharing the update on air on Monday, March 3, especially as cordial discussions between the US and its ally Ukraine broke down the previous week.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the White House on February 28 to sign a minerals deal and discuss security arrangements for his nation. However, the interaction soon heated up, with Trump and his Vice President JD Vance arguing that Zelensky did not seem grateful enough for receiving military support from the US. The deal was put on ice as a result, and Trump has stopped military aid to Ukraine since.

Poll shows soaring approval for Donald Trump's approach to Ukraine

Harry Enten stated on Monday that the American public's opinion dramatically shifted in favor of how the government was addressing the Ukraine situation after Donald Trump was reinstated in the Oval Office, reported Fox News.

"I think the easiest way we can kind of just ask this is, ‘Do Americans like the way that Trump is handling his job and compare it to how they felt about Joe Biden?’" Enten said on-air while displaying polling charts.

"So this is the net approval rating. You look at Joe Biden back in 2024. He was 22 points underwater, holy cow! You look at Donald Trump. It‘s just a different planet entirely. I mean, the gulf between these two is wider than the Gulf of America, or Mexico, depending on which side of the aisle you stand on. He‘s at plus two."

"So look, at this particular point, Americans are giving Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt," continued the expert. "He‘s doing considerably better than Joe Biden was doing on the handling of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and so on this simple question, I think Americans are saying, ‘Okay, Donald Trump is doing alright on this!’"

Network host Kate Bolduan asked Enten about public opinion on ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. He replied that 50% of those who participated in the poll wanted a quick end to the war in which Russia is allowed to keep captured land.

Those who wanted Ukraine to keep fighting made up 48%. While the majority is slim, Enten believed that the "trend line" was important, as in 2022, those who were satisfied with the quick end made up only 31%.

Conservatives cheer Donald Trump's Ukraine policy

Netizens reacting to the news on the social media platform X claimed that Donald Trump's superior policies led to the poll being in his favor. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"This is just the simple truth. Democrats should be happy about it. President Trump is bringing peace. That’s true greatness," wrote a user.

"So much winning," quipped another.

"This new America has promise," claimed a third.

"The truth is always clearer no matter how long it takes," shared a fourth.

"Turns out delivering common sense policies is likable. America loves their President," expressed a fifth.

"The American people want peace. They do not want a never-ending war paid for by America," stated another.
