WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News' senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy shared what he believed to be the real reason for the breakdown of amicable discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in the Oval Office on Friday, February 28.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss a potential rare earth minerals deal between the US and Ukraine, and the security arrangements of the European country amid its ongoing war with Russia.

However, the interaction soon heated up with Vance joining Trump to claim that Zelensky did not seem grateful enough for receiving military support from the United States.

JD Vance's outburst against Volodymyr Zelensky

During the meeting, JD Vance claimed that it was disrespectful of Volodymyr Zelensky to litigate the war in front of the press while seated in the Oval Office. He pointed an accusatory finger at the Ukrainian leader as he asked, "Do you think it respectful to come to the Oval Office of the United States of America and attack the administration that is trying to prevent the destruction of your country?”

Trump went along with his second-in-command as he berated Zelensky, stating at one point, "You're gambling with millions of people. You're gambling with World War III."

Eventually, the minerals deal was put on ice, and the Ukrainian president had to leave without even participating in a post-meeting press conference.

Fox News' Peter Doocy blamed Volodymyr Zelensky for the breakdown of fruitful discussions between the US and Ukraine, claiming that he made several disrespectful gestures during the Oval Office meeting, reported the Gateway Pundit.

While Trump, who was addressing the press, did not witness them, Vance was reportedly keeping a keen eye on the proceedings.

“The thing that really set the vice-president off was 30 minutes of head-shaking, smirking, and eye-rolling from Zelensky,” stated Doocy. "The president couldn’t see it when he was addressing the press... But the rest of the top staffers saw it. It was the body language as much as anything… The ball started rolling down the hill way sooner," he added.

However, body language expert Inbaal Honigman told LADBible that Zelensky's posture remained "imploring" throughout the meeting, as he wanted Trump and Vance to be more understanding of his plight. He remained "diplomatic" throughout even though he was “not feeling very brave” himself.

MAGA supporters slam Volodymyr Zelensky online

Conservatives on the social media platform X backed Peter Doocy in blaming Volodymyr Zelensky for the heated interaction in the Oval Office on February 28. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Zelensky overplayed his cards and was arrogant. Regardless of how we look at this, he was not showing any good manners," wrote a user.

"Zelenskyy was acting like a teenage girl after her parents told her no. The disrespect from him is beyond comprehension," shared another.

"The VP was right we all saw it," claimed one user.

"Zelensky's attitude was horrendous and extremely disrespectful," stated another.

"What does zelensky want? Endless money is the answer," quipped one.
