WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President JD Vance is being subjected to severe trolling on social media after President Donald Trump appeared for a joint interview with tech billionaire Elon Musk on Fox News that aired on Tuesday, February 18, reported the Irish Star.

The alliance between Trump and Musk began in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election when the Tesla CEO endorsed the GOP candidate and donated $288 million to his campaign. Since winning the White House, Trump reciprocated by creating the Department of Government Efficiency and putting Musk in charge to rein in excessive federal spending.

The bromance between the two has effectively sidelined VP Vance, whom Trump also refused to name as his political successor in a recent interview.

Donald Trump's opinion of Elon Musk

During the interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Donald Trump claimed that he had failed to find someone "smarter" than Elon Musk, joking, "I searched all over but I couldn't. I searched all over the country. I couldn't find anyone smarter. So we settled on this guy."

Musk responded to the thinly veiled compliment with a chuckle, saying, "Well, thanks for having me."

In the same interview, Trump further acknowledged that the mainstream media was trying to push him apart from Musk, but not doing a very good job.

"It’s just so obvious," he stated, adding, "They are so bad at it. I used to think they were good at it. They’re actually bad at it because if they were good at it, I’d never be president because I think nobody in history has ever gotten more bad publicity than me."

"But you know what I have learned, Elon? The people are smart. They get it. They get it. They really see what's happening," said the president.

Many believe that by heaping praise on Musk, Trump seemingly snubbed his second-in-command, Vance. This comes especially after Trump recently dismissed the idea of Vance as his potential heir.

Trump revealed his thoughts on his vice president in an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier filmed ahead of Super Bowl 2025 on February 9.

“Do you view Vice President JD Vance as your successor, the Republican nominee in 2028?” Baier asked.

“No, but he's very capable,” Trump responded, per New York Post.

Internet trolls JD Vance after Donald Trump and Elon Musk's interview

As the bond between Donald Trump and Elon Musk appears stronger than ever, with the two even holding a press meet in the Oval Office together to discuss the functioning of DOGE, social media users inquired what JD Vance has been up to and if Musk had effectively replaced him as Trump's second-in-command.

"Has anyone seen JD Vance?" wrote a user with a screengrab of Trump and Musk from the Fox News interview.

"Whatever happened to JD Vance? My boi Elon is Trump's new VP. Lmao," shared another.

"Is anyone concerned we're seeing more of Elon Musk, than the actual VP JD Vance?" said one user.

"They’ve been asking what Kamala did as VP but aint heard of Vance since Trump got in office. It’s giving Elon the VP," jibed another.

"Elon Musk is lowkey the VP, where is JD Vance? Lol s**t wild out here," quipped one.

"I’ve seen pictures of Elon and Trump in the White House than pictures of Trump and Vance….Elon is prolly the VP," echoed yet another user.
