Coachella 2026 faces unexpected chaos as influencers report last-minute Airbnb cancellations
INDIO, CALIFORNIA: Coachella may be all about music and desert vibes, but for some festivalgoers, the experience started with stress instead of celebration.
Just days before the event, multiple attendees claimed their Airbnb bookings were suddenly canceled, sparking panic and frustration online.
Influencer Drea Views shares emotional meltdown over canceled stay
The chaos first gained attention after influencer Drea Views posted a TikTok detailing her experience.
She said she woke up to a shocking message that read, “Your reservation was canceled.”
“I booked everything back in September and they just cancelled my Airbnb reservation this morning,” Views said, sharing a screenshot she claimed was from Airbnb.
For Drea, the timing couldn’t have been worse. With Coachella just around the corner, she explained how difficult it was to recover from the sudden change.

“Everything is so expensive now to rebook. Has this happened to anyone else today? There’s so much money, time and energy put into planning a trip like this,” she said.
Clearly upset, she added, “Very inconsiderate of the Airbnb host to just leave us hanging like that. Everything happens for a reason, but I’m just so sad and disappointed.”
In a later update, she confirmed she was able to secure a new place just in time, but the stress of the situation had already struck a nerve with many online.
Assante Madrigal amplifies similar claims across social media
Drea wasn’t alone. Influencer Assante Madrigal also shared posts highlighting similar complaints from other festivalgoers.
In one clip, a user claimed their reservation had been canceled so the host could raise the nightly rate.
“They want to raise the price to $1600 from $500 a night,” the person said in a TikTok.
Madrigal summed up the frustration in his Instagram post, saying influencers felt like “they were invited to Coachella just to be uninvited right before.”
The claims quickly spread, with more users chiming in about last-minute cancellations and rising costs, turning what should have been an exciting lead-up into a stressful scramble for accommodation.
Airbnb responds, denies major spike in cancellations
As the backlash grew, Airbnb addressed the situation in a statement.
The company said it was “not seeing any notable uptick in cancellations over Coachella weekend.”
It also noted that it had reached out to users who raised concerns online but faced challenges verifying some of the claims.
According to Airbnb, some individuals either had no record of booking or did not respond to follow-ups.
“Festival-goers trust Airbnb for their Coachella stays because we offer options that fit all budgets and reliability, with protections against rare issues like cancellations,” the statement read.
The company acknowledged that cancellations can disrupt plans but ensured that safeguards are in place.
“We know host cancellations can disrupt plans, which is why we have deterrents, including cancellation fees, calendar blocks to prevent rebooking, and a ban on relisting for a higher price, as well as 24/7 guest support,” it said.
