NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Two anti-Israel student protesters at NYU were caught admitting on camera that they were unsure of what they were protesting against in particular on the campus, reported the Daily Mail.

One of the students shared that she studied at Columbia University and had joined the protest at NYU upon hearing that the protestors there needed "support."

According to the publication, both the New York City-based universities have had students asking for an end to the war on Gaza as well as for their specific institutions to divest from Israeli companies and military contractors.

The continuing demonstrations over the past week have made headlines, and the campuses of both are now home to several encampments.

The viral video clip

First shared by former attorney for Donald Trump Rudy Giuliani over the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the clip shows a student being asked at the site of NYU demonstration why she was there.

"I think the goal is showing our support for Palestine and demanding that NYU stops. I honestly don't know all of what NYU is doing. I really don't know," she says, before turning to ask her friend who is seen wearing a face mask.

The second protester appeared unsure as well, confessing, "I wish I was more educated."

"I'm not either," replied the first, continuing, "I came from Columbia. I was there (at) Columbia and we came down. They said NYU students needed our support so I came down. I heard there are lots of cops, some people were saying it was getting dangerous."

More than 100 pro-Palestinian demonstrators camped out at Columbia were arrested Thursday, April 25, reported the Mail. Dozens of similar arrests were reportedly made on other campuses as well, and many of them currently face charges of trespassing or disorderly conduct.

Internet reacts to the viral video

Netizens trolled the students in the video over X, as the following tweets responding to the clip demonstrate.

"And there you have it. Just a bunch of sheep following along with the crowd and doing what everyone else is doing," wrote a user.

"This really is an example of Dumb and Dumber. Their parents must be so proud," jibed another.

"They don't even know 🥲!!! They just do what they're told to fit in. Their lives are so empty and sad!" exclaimed a third.

"These are the clueless people we have disrupting college campuses. They are just there to protest and cause trouble, they have no clue who they are supporting or even why. Comical at best," commented a fourth.

"Wow. This is really sad on so many levels," noted a fifth.
