WASHINGTON, DC: Republican Congressman Randy Fine, on Saturday, May 16, put Ilhan Omar directly in the political spotlight after claiming the Minnesota Democrat still held citizenship in Somalia and unveiling a proposal that would force members of Congress to renounce dual citizenship before serving.

The explosive remarks instantly turned Omar into the face of Fine’s latest “America First” push, with the Florida lawmaker declaring that foreign citizenship and public office should never mix.

Fine made the comments in a sharply worded post on X, where he accused Omar of maintaining Somali citizenship while serving in Congress.

“Ilhan Omar is still a citizen of Somalia, and she has never given up her citizenship,” Fine wrote.

He then announced what he called a new legislative fix. “My new bill would make people like Ilhan Omar give up their dual citizenship if they want to serve in Congress.”

Fine then framed the issue as a matter of national loyalty, saying, “You’re either American or Somali. It’s just that simple.” He added, “We don’t want foreigners serving in Congress any longer. PERIOD.”

By naming Omar directly, Fine turned what could have been a legislative proposal into a targeted political shot at one of Congress’s most recognizable progressive lawmakers.

Randy Fine says to prioritize America first

In a separate interview on Newsmax, Randy Fine was asked whether his political worldview truly put America first, and he answered affirmatively.

“Well, I’m always America First,” Fine said, delivering a clear and direct answer that underscored the foundation of his political ideology.

He framed this position not just as a policy stance, but as something rooted in personal identity and upbringing.

“I was born American. My parents were born in America, and I served in Congress to fight for America,” he added, drawing a straight line between his family background and his sense of national duty.

For Fine, the idea of prioritizing American interests is reportedly not abstract, it is deeply tied to his own story and public service.

He then broadened his remarks beyond domestic politics, portraying the United States as a critical pillar in maintaining global order.
