WASHINGTON, DC: MAGA media mogul Steve Bannon is facing a fierce reckoning from within the conservative movement following the release of Department of Justice documents detailing his personal relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The files revealed that Bannon and Epstein were in direct communication as recently as the day of Epstein’s July 2019 arrest, discussing a planned documentary to rehabilitate the financier’s public image.

The revelations sparked a wave of condemnation from high-profile figures, including Elon Musk, who declared Bannon "evil" in a viral social media post on Monday, February 9.

Longtime GOP operative Roger Stone and radio host Erick Erickson joined the chorus, questioning why conservative influencers continued to associate with Bannon given his "close ties" to both Epstein and figures linked to the Chinese Communist Party.

Text messages released by the DOJ showed that on the day of Epstein’s arrest at Teterboro Airport, Bannon was actively coordinating logistics for a "friendly" documentary.

"If we arrange it can we film on the island," Bannon asked, referring to Epstein’s infamous Caribbean residence. After Epstein agreed, Bannon inquired about a filming time of 11 am, to which Epstein replied, "All canceled," as he was being taken into federal custody.

Months prior to the arrest, Bannon reportedly offered strategic advice to Epstein on how to manage his legal and public crises.

Bannon’s suggested plans involved "pushing back on the lies," "crushing the p**o/t*********g narrative," and eventually "rebuilding" Epstein’s image as a philanthropist.

Steve Bannon's links to Miles Guo draw scrutiny

The backlash also brought renewed focus to Bannon’s business dealings with Miles Guo, a Chinese criminal and fraudster currently facing federal charges.

Conservative personality AG Hamilton labeled Bannon "among the biggest sleaze balls in politics," urging observers to look into the "shady stuff" Bannon had allegedly conducted with CCP-linked individuals.

Erick Erickson added that Bannon’s dual connections to Epstein and Miles Guo should cause influencers to "raise more than a single eyebrow" before appearing on Bannon’s media programs.

Critics like Brenden Dilley accused Bannon’s media network of cowardice, claiming that those who relied on his influence remained silent about his "overt friendship" with Epstein to protect their own interests.

DOJ moves to dismiss Steve Bannon’s conviction

Amidst the social media firestorm, the Department of Justice filed an unopposed motion on Monday to dismiss the indictment against Bannon for defying a subpoena from the January 6 Committee.

The government stated that it had determined, in its "prosecutorial discretion," that dismissing the criminal case with prejudice was "in the interests of justice."

Notably, the court filing did not bear the signature of any career prosecutor. The motion was signed exclusively by US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

The move effectively sought to erase Bannon’s conviction for his refusal to cooperate with the congressional probe into the 2021 Capitol riot.

The combination of Epstein revelations and the sudden DOJ motion pushed Bannon to the center of a bipartisan ethics debate.

While his supporters often emphasized his role in "Making America Great Again," opponents argued that his "ZERO integrity" and "shady" professional history made him a liability to the conservative cause.
