DALLAS, TEXAS: Newly updated details have emerged in the murder case of a young mother whose remains were found inside her boyfriend's home.
According to reports, Dallas police discovered the body of 27-year-old Corinna Johnson at an apartment complex along West Wheatland Road early in the morning on Monday, April 15.
During the disturbing discovery, Johnson was found inside a bedroom closet, wrapped in bedding and bludgeoned to death, as reported by NBC News 5.
Subsequently, Omar Lucio, 34, who had been in a relationship with Corinna Johnson, was charged with her murder as per NBC news 5.
What did female witness report to Dallas police?
A woman in Garland reported the incident to the police, prompting Dallas cops to respond to the crime scene.
According to the female witness, she and Lucio have a 'friends with benefits' relationship, and he called her early Sunday morning, asking her to pick him up.
Lucio confessed to the distraught woman that he 'laid hands' on Johnson, stating he had knocked her unconscious.
The witness persuaded Lucio to return to his apartment, where she observed the victim, Johnson 'lying on the bathroom floor with a bruised and bloody face, appearing dead.'
Although the woman didn't immediately report the alleged incident to the police, she eventually did so hours later after her friend convinced her to come forward.
The witness' account led police in Garland to contact Dallas police.
Police officers then went to the apartment complex and encountered initial resistance from Lucio, who was unwilling to leave his home.
Subsequently, officers took Lucio into custody. Bloody clothes were reportedly found inside his vehicle.
Later, officers followed a trail of blood from the bathroom to a bedroom closet, where they discovered Johnson's body. The victim could not be promptly identified. Lucio waived his rights and agreed to speak with Dallas police detectives, confessing that he "has a temper and snapped in the vehicle."
However, he did not provide an explanation for how Johnson ended up wrapped in bedding inside the closet.
Lucio remains in custody on bonds totaling $1.5 million for murder and an unrelated case involving alleged street racing and a crash.
