TAMPA, FLORIDA: New details have emerged regarding the University of Tampa student who disposed of her newborn baby's body in a garbage can last week.

It has been revealed that she gave birth in the dormitory bathroom in McKay Hall which was used by first year students.

Previously, the Tampa Police Department discovered a deceased newborn wrapped in a towel and abandoned in a garbage bin near a dormitory at the University of Tampa on Sunday night, April 21.

The police located the child's mother, identified as a UT student, and transported her to a nearby hospital, according to Fox13 Tampa Bay.

What did teen mother report?

According to recently released court documents, the 19-year-old mother informed the police that her baby girl cried for 'approximately five seconds' after she gave birth in a shared bathroom on Saturday.

Following this, the infant reportedly ceased crying once the mother held her to her chest as per DailyMail.

The student, who remains unnamed as she has not been charged with a crime, then placed the baby on a towel and checked for a heartbeat but allegedly could not detect one, as detailed in the affidavit.

The mother recounted to the police that she rinsed the baby off, wrapped her in a towel, and laid her on the floor while she napped for approximately an hour.

Upon waking up, she observed no signs of life in the baby, prompting her to dispose of the infant in the trash can before returning to sleep.

The mother, who claimed she had not experienced menstruation for about a year, informed the police that she was unaware of her pregnancy but also acknowledged the possibility of being in denial, as stated in the affidavit.

Investigators are currently determining the cause of death and the child's developmental stage.

Will Tampa teen face charges?

Emergency services responded to the call, but paramedics eventually cleared the scene after the woman asserted that the blood discovered in the common bathroom was due to her menstruation, as outlined in the affidavit.

Students residing in the dormitory reported witnessing a woman carrying what appeared to be a wrapped-up towel on Saturday and subsequently provided security with what they deemed to be a 'suspicious' looking trash bag the following day.

Upon inspecting the bag, the security guard discovered the torso of an apparently lifeless baby, according to the documents.

Police were once again called to the campus on Sunday, just before 7 pm, following a report indicating that campus security was present with a deceased fetus in a bag.

The mother informed investigators that she began feeling nauseous on Saturday morning and ultimately gave birth in the bathroom situated between two adjacent dorm rooms later that day.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the woman will face criminal charges

Internet dubs teen's act as 'evil, cruel and heartless'

According to the Daily Mail, upon discovering the cruel actions of the teenage girl from Tampa, many internet users rushed to the comment section to share their perspectives.

One claimed, “I don't believe her story.  She stated she was in denial. She never wanted that poor baby girl. Why didn't she go for help? She wasn't a 12-14' year old girl!”

Another dubbed it as “Evil, cruel & heartless. She should definitely be charged.”

The third wrote, “Throw the book at this clown!   Of course, if the mother is in a 'protected class' all bets are off….

The fourth claimed, “The indifference to human life is appalling and most disturbing.”

The last said, “So she would be charged with a crime for terminating a non-viable pregnancy but not charged with a crime for killing a full term baby.  Explain how that makes sense.”
