The authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in locating the missing car in which the suspect or suspects are believed to have fled. Described as a red, four-door midsize vehicle, it bears the Florida license plate LTDQ16.

Speaking to NBC Miami, Kim Melvin Hill, the 11th child of the couple, expressed her thoughts on why her parents might have been targeted, saying, "I'm so numb I can’t feel. Yes, we are angry, we are very angry. We are still trying to wrap our minds around how can we? Who would? Who did? Why? So we ask those questions."

Tonya Mitchell, another daughter of the couple, shared about her parents, stating, "They were the most loving people that I’ve ever known. Both caring. And whoever this perpetrator is, he just needs to be found."

According to Mitchell, the suspect or suspects left behind her mother’s purse and other valuables. The couple, who had been married for 60 years, left behind a legacy of 28 grandchildren, as reported by the AP.
