Cynthia Nixon says world is ‘horrified’ by Trump at NYC ‘No Kings’ rally: ‘Important to show up’

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During a New York City “No Kings” demonstration, actress Cynthia Nixon, known for her role as Miranda Hobbes on 'Sex and the City,' spoke about Donald Trump, telling CNN that people around the world are “horrified” by his leadership.

The protests were part of a nationwide series of “No Kings” demonstrations that drew large crowds across the United States.

Cynthia Nixon said the rest of the world is “horrified” by President Donald Trump running the USA during a brief interview with CNN correspondent Donie O’Sullivan at the “No Kings” rally in New York City. 

Nixon said the disdain she and others feel, both in the USA and globally, for Trump makes protesting imperative.

“I think it’s really important for us to show up. I think it’s important for us to show up in New York; I think it’s important for us to show up across the country in big cities and small towns.”

Nixon, best known for her role in 'Sex and the City,' has previously been active in politics and ran for governor of New York in 2018.

She has remained a vocal critic of Trump and his policies, frequently speaking out on issues ranging from immigration to social policy. “And I think it’s important for people to show up across the world.”

She also questioned how the US had reached its current political moment, saying demonstrators were turning out “in record numbers” to voice opposition.

“I think that I think that the rest of the world looks at us and is so horrified by what’s happening and can’t believe that we’ve elected this man and that we’re going along with it”

“we have to show out, as we’re doing today, in record numbers, to say, this is not okay with us.”



Nixon ran against Andrew Cuomo for governor of New York in 2018 but was defeated. She was not the only high-profile critic of Trump at the NYC “No Kings” rally on Saturday.

Robert De Niro also delivered a speech, saying “corrupt” Trump has permanently damaged the USA and calling for his removal from office.

“There have been other presidents who have tested the constitutional limits of their power, but none have been such an existential threat to our freedoms and security — NONE — except Trump,” De Niro said. “He must be stopped, and he must be stopped now.”



The New York City rally was part of a broader series of coordinated protests held across the United States on March 28.
