Cynthia Nixon faces flak for wearing ‘make abortion great again’ cap: ‘You’re foul for glorifying this’

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Cynthia Nixon’s attempt to take a dig at President Donald Trump brutally backfired as fans bashed her for wearing a "Make Abortion Great Again" cap.
The 59-year-old ‘Sex and the City’ star took to her Instagram on July 2 to share a post bashing the president before Congress passed his much-hyped "big, beautiful bill."

Cynthia Nixon takes a dig at Donald Trump over his spending bill’s impact on healthcare
Cynthia Nixon’s Instagram post featured a selfie where she is captured sitting on a boat while staring at the camera and wearing a red hat that reads, "Make Abortion Great Again."
In her caption, Nixon didn’t hold back. “In addition to kicking 17 million Americans off their healthcare, Trump’s big ugly bill will strip critical funding to @plannedparenthood for non-abortion-related medical care,” the actress wrote.
“And of course, abortion is healthcare too! Call 202-224-3121 and tell your representatives to vote NO on this horrifying bill. #IFightForPP,” her caption added.
The MAGA leader's much-advertised tax and spending bill, which was passed by Congress on July 3 and signed into law by Trump on Independence Day, reportedly seeks to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
Proposed by Trump's administration and backed by self-described "pro-life advocates," the legislation is reportedly being framed as a major step in efforts to defund abortions across the US.

Fans bash Cynthia Nixon for wearing a ‘Make Abortion Great Again’ cap
However, not many of Cynthia Nixon’s fans were happy with her approach as they took to the comments section of her Instagram post to express their dismay over the message on her hat.
One said, “I’m pro-choice and I think that hat is absolutely repulsive and disgraceful,” and another added, “Um. This is very distasteful. Pro-life or pro-choice, there isn’t anything great about abortions. Sick.”
A person wrote, “I am pro-choice, but celebrating abortion as 'great' is something only a vapid ghoul would say,” while someone else expressed, “This is absolutely sick, it doesn’t matter how you stand politically. Abortions shouldn’t be bragged on or ever be great. This is shameful behavior. How in the world could anyone ever think this is great or a good idea to put on a damn hat."
“Pro-choice here, and I think you’re foul for even attempting to glorify this,” another commented.
“Absolutely an abomination of the most devastating thing a woman could decide to do. Anyone who thinks this decision is great on either side of the aisle is not only misled, but they’re flat out evil. Devastation is the consequence. How sad for you, Ms Nixon, that you would stoop to glorify it,” one more comment read.
An individual slammed Nixon, writing, “This is pretty sick… there’s nothing 'great' about abortion. Even if you’re pro-choice… it’s not 'great', it’s a tragedy."
Cynthia Nixon's protests against abortion bans
The ‘Ratched’ star has time and again voiced her protest against the abortion ban. In December 2021, she openly discussed her mother's horrific experience with an illegal abortion.
“My mother had an abortion when they were still illegal. It was a terrifying and awful experience,” she wrote on social media at the time.

“From the time I was old enough to understand, she imparted to me that we must do everything we can to make sure we never go back to that time. #AbortionIsEssential,” she added.
In 2018, Nixon went to a pro-choice rally where she brandished a coat hanger, a representation of hazardous home abortions.
At the time, she said, “For those of you too young to remember, this is something that women in this state and this country were driven to use out of fear and desperation, performing abortions on themselves often with devastating effects to their health and sometimes their life.”
