MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Actress Cynthia Nixon has been drawing flak online after she claimed in a protest in New York City that many children in her immediate vicinity are trans.

Nixon, 58, recently joined hundreds of protesters who gathered on the streets of Manhattan on Monday, February 3, to stage a demonstration against NYU-Langone - a hospital chain - that canceled at least two children’s appointments to receive puberty blockers following an executive order from Donald Trump's administration.

Gathering with hundreds of demonstrators at the Pro-Trans Children protest, the ‘Sex and the City’ star took the mic to talk about President Trump's Trans Care executive order that he signed after assuming office in his second term in January.

Cynthia Nixon claims she is a proud mother of a ‘trans’ child

As Nixon joined the demonstration, she talked against the order, saying how it “cannot happen in New York,” as reported by Daily Mail

She continued, “Most importantly, I am here today as the mother of a proud trans man,” before adding, “I am here today as the aunt of a proud trans man.”

She also added, “My best friend's kid is trans and my kid's best friend is trans.”

Referencing her spouse Christine Marinoni, the actress continued, “My wife and I - our lives are filled with the most amazing, beautiful, brave trans people - young and old, but especially young.”

The protest came after NYU Langone Health began canceling appointments for minors scheduled to receive puberty-blocking medication implants.

Though NYU has historically been known for its trans-friendly policies, the recent development came as a shock to many.

In her speech, Nixon also shared that her child Samuel - who came out as transgender two days before the Gay Pride Parade in June 2018 - also received his surgery in NYU “a number of years ago.”

Nixon continued, “His doctors were fantastic,” while adding, “His surgeon was the best we could've imagined.”

“And the idea that this city is filled with young people who thought they had a place to go where they can receive the highest care - and that place has now been shut to them, sickens me. Sickens me to my core,” continued the actress.

Internet reminds Cynthia Nixon that it’s ‘statistically impossible’

As the video of Nixon's protest in New York went viral, several social media users flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the actress for her bold claims.

One of the social media users declared, "I don’t know if I’d be publicly touting the extreme mental health issues of an entire family like a badge of honor. 😬."

Someone else asked, "Is there something in the water?"

"I really do not think she won the impossibility contest...," chimed in someone else.

Another user added, "Statistically impossible unless you force this on them."

"What are the odds she pushed that on the children?  100%," declared another unimpressed fan.

Someone else added, "I don’t know a single person with “trans kids” and somehow EVERY kid she knows is trans??? The math ain’t mathin’…"

"Her and her sister need to be investigated," suggested someone else.

Another user noted on political scientist Scarlett Johnson's post, writing, "Congratulations, Scarlett! I think you've just discovered the world's smallest echo chamber."
