PEORIA, ILLINIOS: Nathaniel Maloney, 20, and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Dahlia Bolin, are set to spend the next six decades behind bars after a murderous plot against Bolin's parents took a tragic and unexpected turn.

The duo, along with accomplices Sage Raeuber and Andre Street, recently pleaded guilty to charges of murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to murder in a case that has captivated the Tazewell County community near Peoria, Illinois.

Timeline of Dahlia Bolin' murderous plot against own parents

The chilling incident unfolded on October 22, 2021, when the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shots-fired call at the Bolin family home in Mackinaw.

Deputies arrived to find Rebecca and Douglas Bolin shot, with the former tragically succumbing to her injuries.

Douglas survived the attack after being shot five times.

Initially claiming innocence, Dahlia eventually confessed to orchestrating the entire plot. The young conspirators had meticulously planned the murder in a group text message thread and FaceTime chats.

The sinister scheme involved Maloney and Andre entering the Bolin residence to carry out the murder of Douglas while making it look like a botched robbery, as per WMBD.

Dahlia had allegedly offered the trio $100,000 from her parents' life insurance policy as an incentive.

Teen mastermind's twisted plan goes off course as accomplices stray from script.

However, the plan quickly went awry as Maloney and Street deviated from the original script.

Instead of following through with the intended assault on Douglas, the assailants wounded him and fatally shot Rebecca.

Reports suggest that upon entering the home, Dahlia appeared "giddy, and almost jolly like on Christmas Day," a stark contrast to the gravity of the situation.

In a court hearing on Tuesday, January 16, prosecutors revealed that the quartet had been in custody by the following day.

The judge handed down severe sentences, with Maloney receiving a 66-year prison term.

Despite being juveniles at the time of the crime, Dahlia and Andre were charged as adults, receiving sentences of 60 and 55 years, respectively.

Sage, the getaway driver, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Reportedly, the motive behind Dahlia's gruesome plot was rooted in longstanding issues with her father.
